I think the Flames should trade for Scott Glennie.

Calgary can be the Meme Team!

The positives to this are that we'll find out faster what kind of player he will likely end up being. I got to think the Flames were so impressed with him that they think he is ready and that this is the best route for his development.

The only negative would be if he isn't ready for this league, but great players can adapt. I like it, let's see what he can do.

Well this just saved me some fasthockey dollars, but now I have no idea where to watch him play. Hopefully he holds his own out there.

Anyone know what he is taking in school?

This.

Great post.

Janko seems like a pretty mature kid, I sure Feaster and Co. have given this a lot of thought and feel this is the best move for him.

Canadian High School Hockey to the NCAA is a pretty massive step-up in level of competition. Although it's easier to find NCAA streams than USHL ones, so I like that part of it.

But isn't that a jump that a few hundred guys make every year? Is that more of a jump than US HS to the NCAA, which even more guys make? It's not unprecedented to be a freshman, so I'd be satisfied with a slightly above average season in which he bulks up and grows as a player.

Most Canadian kids forego high school hockey programs in favour of the CHL - so yeah, it's a fairly significant jump in the overall skill level.

For a Canadian kid, it's a really big jump. The large majority of Canadian kids will play in a Junior A league (BCHL, AJHL, OJHL, etc.) of 17-20 year olds prior to going to the NCAA.

Canadian high school hockey hardly even exists due to these leagues + the more popular CHL leagues (WHL, QMJHL, OHL).

Maybe Lankowski is the enforcer/agitator that Feaster was talking about adding all along!

I was just saying that even though the CHL and Jr. A are very popular for that age level, I'd guess Canadian HS is at least somewhat comparable to US HS talent-wise--and US HS is where a number of NCAA players are coming from. Just trying to say it's not an unprecedented jump, especially for a skilled guy. One could also say a jump is warranted given his sudden jump in physical development (being undersized severely limited his options to play CHL or Jr. A). Why spend a year in the USHL to work on skills he's probably had for a while?

Also, I don't know much about Jr. A leagues, but I'm pretty sure they aren't quite on par with USHL...correct me if I'm wrong.

Meh, I for one just want to see how he plays to get an idea of the potential and go from there. Factors like coaches, work and plenty of ice time are more critical than where he plays in college etc imo.
