If the Isles do end up in 15th in the East it is only because the other teams in the Atlantic are very good. But in all honesty I could easily see the Isles step past the Devils this season.

From a long-term perspective, the Isles would be better served finishing dead last than trying to compete for a playoff spot. They won't make it anyway, but at least a top-3 draft pick will be a significant improvement to their squad, whereas a #12 pick will need several years to develop, and even then would have worse than 50-50 chance of being a top-6 forward or a top-4 defenseman.

They should trade Streit, Visnovsky (who doesn't even want to be there), Carkner, Reasoner, Pandolfo and Nabokov for whatever draft picks and prospects they can bring back. Some of these players will bring back real assets, and some will bring back only mid-round picks, but it's still worth doing.

Reload the system with both quality early draft picks and a large quantity of later draft picks, and when added to their current players and prospects, they will be in good shape in 2-4 years.

The way they are moving now, they will max out as a mid-range team.

Yep. I expect big declines from FLA and NJ.

I went with Toronto, but those are my next two.

Its a tough call between leafs/fla/montreal but montreal has a decent goalie and if florida does have a little momentum from this season. so Leafs it is.

Toronto due to their lack of goaltending as of today.

Montreal.
Yeah. It's the same thing on the main board. People overrated Montreal like crazy. They're a **** team, and their fans (and apparently management) don't realize it.
Our top 3 (arguably 4) forwards are better than anyone they have

Montreal. If it wasn't for Price I would say they would have been a lock for last. I would still pick the Islanders over them.

Am I the only one who thinks that Gomez is going to have a SERIOUS bounce-back year this coming season? I understand that there's nowhere to go but up for Gomer, but I'm thinking like 55 pts +++

Don't know why, just a feeling.

Voted Winnipeg...I don't trust Pavelec, and I don't think they have enough firepower.

Maybe it's not saying much, but Toronto is much better than Montreal imo.

Toronto. Subban and Price and the fact that team still somehow finds ways to pull out wins... ESPECIALLY at home, means MTL is actually getting a bit of a bad rep here. Toronto is just a mess. I like Lupul ad Kessel is fine but that's about it. JVR isnt gonna change the dynamic of that team.

Meh. I went with MTL. I think Price is over rated.

Montreal's worse than Toronto, methinks. I voted them 15th in the last poll, so...

I do agree that TOR overall has more talent and options than MTL. MTL has been floundering for the last 2 years despite the clear problems and so they really don't have the depth or the sense to address issues. I went with Tor however because I think MTL will be better at winning close games than TOR.

Voted Winnipeg. Toronto and Montreal both have players that will keep them from being bottom feeders. I'd lump Tampa in with these four teams that will have a tough time making the playoffs. If Stamkos is hurt for any period of time, they're in serious trouble.

I picked TML, but honestly... I think anyone who has a strong opinion about this is either overconfident or disingenuous. On paper, there's very little difference between any team in the East beyond the top 6 or 7.

Although I do full expect Ottawa to take a step backwards this year.
