I may be the only one but I have always liked McMillan's game. He is sound defensively, goes to the net, and can bring physicality. 5 points in 15 NHL games with +2 is not bad for a 4th liner.
As far as the bunch, I agree that Palmieri is best out of the bunch as far as potential is concerned but I think they are all currently 4th liners that provide solid depth and will provide leadership for a young Houston team.
All are great players that will hopefully show the management something special this year in Houston so they can be some of our first callups My bet is on Palmer being the best of the bunch. Palmieri just seems like he doesn't have the heart or attitude necessary to improve and play in the show.
Does anyone regret the Noreau/McIntyre trade? I still don't get why we would just throw away a young point producing defenseman for an AHL duster.
Why would anyone regret that trade? That was a decent trade.
Not to mention, see where Noreau is playing today. It seemed like GMCF knew his intention after the 10-11 season...
But why? I guess I am not that familiar with Noreau. His stats looks pretty awesome when he was down in Houston. He posted 52 points in 76 games to earn selection in the AHL Second All-Star Team in 2010 and was on the first AHL All-star team the next year with 54 points in 76 games. He was 24 when we traded him. What was wrong with his game that we felt the need to ship him off.
I see that he is in the Swiss league now, but if we would have tried to sign him would he have stayed on a two way. And we only gave him 5 game on the big team? Not much of a chance for a guy playing so well in the AHL.
Nobody should. McIntyre is a decent 4th liner and nice AHL depth. Noreau never signed with the Devils after we traded him there. This was a good trade by Fletcher.
I'm curious to see what Nick Palmieri can do for us in the future. I still think other than the picks, he was an intriguing piece in the Zidlicky trade. I realize we have a lot of depth with our better prospects turning pro but hopefully Nick can attempt to make a name for himself.
