I didn't know where to put him and i wouldn't want him on the 4th line on a checking line. And he probably is, i was just guessing where he plays.

I'd have kennedy in instead of Adams and ya I think Doan plays RW. TK doesn't really rely on teammates much to score so I think he could add decent scoring to the energy line and if there's one thing he doesn't lack its energy and hustle. He's undersized, but I think TK would play his balls off on the 4th line. As long as we have the cap space he's better there than Adams.

TK's gone if we're talking about him replacing Adams.

In a world where Doan signed with the Pens and Tangradi's play justified giving him a permanent top6 assignment, why don't we just go ahead and pencil Jeffrey in instead of Adams and trade Kennedy for pots of gold? => World domination!

The optimism about Tangradi reminds me of a few things...
  • Two summers ago when people were optimistic about tearing up the AHL and eventually landing a spot on a top line in Pittsburgh. Didn't happen.

  • Last summer when people were optimistic about him landing a top-6 spot. (even with a very injury depleted lineup, he got scratched in favor of AHL-scrub Chris Connor. suited up for 1 post-season game)

Look - I get that Shero didn't add a legitimate winger so we're stuck with Dupuis and whoever for now, but that does not mean that Tangradi is ready to step up and fill that role.

His talent and play on the ice will dictate where he ultimately ends up, as it has for the past few seasons.

My take? Come October... Shero is going to wish he signed a backup plan. Don't take this in a negative way... but if Tangradi isn't the definition of a "project", then I don't know what is. You can't expect projects to come into a "sink or swim" situation and pan out immediately.

We're all impatient because this organization can't develop any winger talent whatsoever. It sucks even more because we have the 2 best playmakers in the league to exploit said winger talent, but that is just the situation we're in.

Agreed. I would have taken Semin at a 1yr/$7M cap hit without thinking twice. Obviously, the rumors were true (as Steve Mears said on Pens radio) that there was no way the Penguins organization would ever sign that guy.

Let's just stop for a second. Sid, unless we trade for a winger, WILL have Kunitz on his wing.

To assume Geno is going to get Kunitz and Neal is a bit absurd. The only reason Sid didn't get Kunitz when he came back last season was because A. Bylsma didn't want to mess with the best line in the NHL and B. Sid was getting third line minutes to re-adjust to the game.

i should add though, that i never really wanted semin. doan would be ok.

it angers me when i consider that sid just signed a long deal and is still kinda returning from an injury, and has to play with mediocre linemates. but i really dont have an answer as to what the pens should do. none of the options sounds particularly good. altho the mediocre return nash fetched makes me think there is someone decent out there to get. i just know the status quo sucks. ill leave it up to shero to find the solution that i cant.

yeah the line of dupuis-sid-tk/et is a sort of worse-case scenario. but still, i think dupuis-sid-kunitz is not good enough.

i want to sid to win scoring titles, damnit. his injuries have put his ascension into the ranks of all-time greats on hold, and i want to get it back on track.

If Sid stays healthy for a full season, it's his to lose. Don't forget he was on pace for ~60g and ~135pts with Kunitz and Dupuis.

This team will go to the trade market, and I think we'll be better for it. People can talk about getting an asset for nothing when getting free agents, but IMO, that's not necessarily true. What you aren't giving up in assets, you are giving up in salary. That's just how free agency is.

My ideal winger would be Setoguchi. I think he brings everything we need in the top 6. No idea if he's even available, but that's just my opinion.

I'd also inquire about Kulemin. He had a down season, but that guy plays a game I really like. Real strong along the boards, good down low, has a great shot, and a solid two way game. I personally think if he got a change of scenery, a resurgence would occur.

I love Bobby Ryan, but we really don't have what it takes to get him.

I'm going off the poll choices and say Shero will sign a wing that was bought out in the brief cap-compliance period shortly after the new CBA is signed.

Doubt the Leafs move Kulemin especially after the deal he just signed which is a great one for Toronto

Actually I thought about a Martin + Kennedy for a winger then signing Moore. Good center depth.

Dupuis-Crosby-Winger
Kunitz-Malkin-Neal
Cooke-Sutter-Moore
Glass-Vitale-Adams

Pretty versatile...can play anywhere in the bottom 6. And we know if we dont like him we can get a 2nd for him later.

I really feel they're looking to do the bottom of the barrel as per usual for cheap. Since they missed out on the bigger targets. That also allows them to search the deadline route for bargains too.

I can't believe Rozsival is only 33. Was going to say that it seemed like he played for the Pens like 10 years ago, but then I looked and saw that he last played for them 10 years ago....so yeah. I would of sworn that he was like 36-38. He just has an older look to him, even when he was younger.

Jeff Finger's contract finally ran out it appears. His agent deserves a medal for getting that deal.
