Is it possible for Roy to use the same option as Justin Schultz?

as of right now no. he is not in college.

the only thing as of now would be him not signing a contract after 2 years and then he would re enter the draft.

Who knows what will new CBA bring

But you`ll never change playeers mind, who is not wanting to play for team that believed in him the most (drafted most higher)

Sort of. If he stayed 4 years in college he would become a UFA on Aug 15 of 2016. If he left early he would become UFA on June 1 of 2016.

Schultz was always scheduled to become UFA in 2012, he just could do it as a junior because he played a year before entering college.

edit: I guess that's wrong with Schultz. His options were 2012 or 2013 if he went back to school for senior season. But if he would have gone directly to college after draft then he would have been UFA in 2012 no matter what.

I'd rather have a smaller dude like him going to juniors.

H's better off in College where there aren't as many games and he can focus on getting stronger and working with coaches on the defensive side of things. From what I've heard and read, he's very much a liability when he's not scoring and refuses to go into the corners.

I think college is better too. 5'10" 170. IMO, college is better than juniors for improving physically and defense. Juniors is better for improving skills and offense.

Yeah Roy has some exciting possiblities.

And another thing. People were all excited about how Lindholm was #1 in the cycling VO2max duration. Well he only ranked in that one measurement. Roy ranked in top 10 in 7 tests (anaerobic fatigue index, VO2 max, skinfolds, body fat, pushups, pushups x body weight, and pull strength). He does have the extra year so his fitness would be expected to be higher, but that is still pretty good.

Basically we have a highly skilled guy with some great fitness. A little small and perhaps a little top-heavy. But that's some nice potential reward to go with the risk. Which is why I have him next on the top prospects list.

Even though Kevin Roy is 5'9...keep in mind that he's only 19 (so he can grow a couple more inches) and Saku Koivu is 5'10. So size shouldn't be a huge knack against him as long as he keeps playing as good as he has.

Roy was USHL`s player of the year and forward of the year.

I`m voting for him in prospect pools like 5 times in a row. Fans still take Welinski before him, ven though Welinski was ''only'' USHL`s defenseman of the year. I think it happens to be because Welinski is around here for longer time than Roy, so he have ''gathered the hype'' around him.

I doubt it has something to do with size - Welinski have size, but lacks elements that Roy is spectacular in.

I`m a big fan of Roy, even though i really dislike his size - there are great examples of undersized great players... aslong as the team doesn`t have many of them on the roster.

He isn`t as hyped because he was just drafted. If we`d drafte him and Welinski last year and would be able to follow him in USHL during the whole season, a lot of fans would be pissing rainbows () about how great he is, and he would be above Welinski in our prospect poll.

Go Roy!

He's a year older than everybody drafted this year, he was passed over in the '11 draft.

Is that any good? Don`t know much about these leagues.

Josh Manson (our 6th round pick in 2011) also plays for Northeaster Huskies.

He's going to be playing in Hockey East, arguably the best conference in college hockey (one notorious for helping undersized forwards develop) as compared to the ECAC. The ECAC is an underrated conference and Brown could have been a nice route, but now he plays in front of a larger crowd in some high pressure games, night in and night out.

I'm trying to be fair to Brown, but I think he gets more out of player development at Northeastern from the switch. We have pound for pound some of the best fans in college hockey. Combine that with a decent coaching staff, good facilities (it's not Agganis but still good) and the ability to play against teams like BU/BC and this seems like an upgrade. We're really excited to have Kevin and his brother come aboard already.

He'll probably be on Northeastern's second line this year. Definitely on the powerplay.

Great question. I mean, he's yet to be announced. Northeastern already will have 3 quality centers (Vermeersch, Pimm, and USNDTP's Cam Darcy) so they could possibly use him at the wing. At one point Roy may be moved to center slowly so he can improve defensively if they want to use him at that position. But that's just a theory. There are at least 10 combinations I can think of right now as acceptable for opening night at Matthews.

My guess for Roy though:

Saponari - Vermeersch - Ferriero
Roy - Pimm- Karlsson
Reid - Darcy - Manno
Vrolyk - McMurtry - Belonger
