It's like Koreans winning archery. National sport and all.

Wow the semi final between Britta and Korean women is pretty tense, trying to review if the final score was done within the last second to see if Britta or Korea goes through to Gold Medal match

Or maybe not, Korean making a written appeal.

Surely if they argue the clock, there will be time added for every stoppage as the clock is always a tiny bit behind when referee shouts go?

Also agreed, feel really sorry for the Korean, but the decision making has been terrible by the fencing panel people.

Germans will counter appeal if this goes through. I feel bad for both of them.

For sure, I assume a counter appeal would be something similar to what I said above I guess, either way it's getting really out of hand.

Surely the clock should just be final and that's it.

I wouldn't be surprised if they started tracking tenth and hundredth of seconds after that match

Well Britta's into the gold medal match officially, first medal for Deutschland!

Korean is refusing to leave the stage as well, might lose the chance to contest bronze

I really hope the poor girl from korea wins the bronze. I doubt it though, how do you do that mentally??

There was a clock mistake. It showed 0 before the time was up. The ref gave one more second. And since in fencing you don't take parts of seconds the full second needs to pass before the match is over. And since every attack of Heidemann was quicker than one second, the last second just didn't pass. It's always a full second until the clock shows zero.

Did Heidemann get a point in that last second or something? All I saw was the Korean crying and refusing to leave the stage.

She did get a single point. But it was 3 attacks in the single second. I can understand the appeal from the Koreans

I feel bad for the korean girl, but I'm glad she did not reach the final after beeing so passive for the whole game. She did not try anything on her own for the whole match and it got even worse after she was awarded priority in extra time. She was always going for the double touch the entire match.

True. But it's not like anyone would do it differently after being awarded priority.

too aggressive maybe Heidemann? On the other hand, good on her not trying to benefit from that stupid advantage rule. They should get rid of that.

how? not their fault that the guys can only count full seconds, and they use the integer instead of rounding it. They reviewed it, there were 3 attacks when the clock showed 0.1 seconds. But at the first one, it was actually 1.9 seconds and before the 2nd one it was still 1.2. Looks like there was enough time left. On top, the korean girl and coach agreed to that last en-garde. The right decision was made.

They introduced it because matches could take ages if not for that. ( it was because of a german, what was his name again? bohr or bohrmann? some guy from the 80s)

THey should most definately review their own rules, that was horrible. Feel really sorry for the korean girl. But I have to wonder, the last time the clock was set back didnt it go all the way to 0?

It did, but it was because of a technical mistake apparently. That's what they said. It's a very weird situation.
