A lot depends on Sauer and I think the Rangers have to figure out pretty soon whether or not he'll be ready to go at some point before the calendar year is over. I wouldn't mind picking up Kubina (who has played for Torts in the past) if Sauer is going to remain on the sidelines for awhile.

UFA's I would be interested in signing:
Doan - Top-6 winger
Brule - Depth
Hecht - Depth
Mike Zigomanis - AHL scoring <---- THIS IS A MUST!! - Also has some NHL experience, has good speed, would be a Newbury-like signing.
Colaiacovo - #5/6 d-man
Kubina - Depth d-man

RFA's:
Martin - Talk about a perfect match as a Prust replacement....
Abdelkader - Yes please!
Franson - 3rd pairing, bomb from the point. Needs work defensively.

I hope they bring in at least one proven AHL scorer, a 3rd string goalie (Niityamaki?)

They need to bring in another legitimate tweener for the AHL. Newbury was a good start.

I believe Zigomanis signed with the Marlies yesterday.

Exactly. The Whale are kind of screwed at goaltending as of right now. All we have is Talbot basically & he IMO isn't a legit starter. Niittymaki would make a lot of sense because he will most definitely be the No.1 goalie for the Whale & is a great back-up for Lundqvist if Biron went down with an injury. Also, Tyson Sexsmith would be considerably good & cheap & Lack, Janus, & Scrivens would be great, but they are RFA's.

As for forwards there isn't much to choose from, like others have said teams are waiting to see what happens with the cap which may make other players available. I didn't see Jesse Winchester on the list, but he is a player Rangers were rumored to be interested in.
Jesse Winchester would be a good fit for the Rangers, forgot to add him. Also, Bobby Butler looks good, too.
