Tru dat. Oh, and as much as I want to hate Boston, I just can't , thanks to Big Z and Chris Kelly. I'm glad that if they couldn't win a Cup with the Sens, that they did get to win one. Both class acts. And you breaking the CanDives hearts, its a bonus.

Alfie was a boss in the game 7 vs. the Rangers this yr. A man possessed.

Great news! Alfie is all class, and I hate seeing players retire before their play declines. This guy still has gas left in the tank, good on him for using it.

Good news for the Sens. Can't imagine playing them w/o Alfie. Good stuff.

I actually thought Alfie had a good run last year, too. His legs looked there. Can any Sens fans let us know if they expect a drop off or if they are expecting same stats/everything?

I would expect that he performs at least close to last year's level. Alfie is the type of guy (and has said all along) that he wouldn't come back just to play (or to collect a paycheck, he's only making 1 mill this year). He would only come back if he felt he could contribute.

As nice as it'll be having him on this ice, his mentorship of our young guys (Swedes and otherwise) will be invaluable.

Completely agree.

Pretty sure I read that he said he feels better today than he did this time last year.

If healthy, I expect 50-60 points. But you're quite right, his leadership and mentorship is really his greatest value to the team.

Not really sure why this needed a thread and a sticky here considering he is still playing out his contract... But I guess this is good for the sens fans

From hearing Murray and Alfredsson talk, I think he can be even better this year.

He had serious back and injury problems 2 years ago, and constantly had maintnance days, and basically was never ever at practice. Compound this with the abysmal collapse of the team and the rebuild, I think his original intention to have last season as his last one just to kick off the rebuild. But the season went far better than intended in terms of team performance, and his health. He says he's feeling even healthier and stonger than he was at this point last summer.

I bet he can keep going another year or two if his body can.

Is this even sticky-worthy on the Senators page?

I'm still thinking...

I think he will play 2 more years. He seemed so ****in' pissed after this years failure at the WC. He wants another gold with Sweden before he retires.

Great news for Ottawa.

Alfie is definitely respected league-wide. Nice to see he'll stick around and help bring up some of the young guns that the sens will be bringing in.
