Boston - Edmonton/Caution: Eberle to Boston

Boston
Jordan Eberle
Ryan Whitney

Edmonton
David Krejci
2013 1st round pick
2014 1st round pick
Johnny Boychuk
Jordan Caron/Jared Knight

I think Edmonton gets some really nice pieces here for their team that add versatility, cost certainty, and toughness that go along way towards making them a more complete team and a contender for a Stanley Cup.

:-)

You certainly didn't undervalue him or anything, that's one giant ass package.

I don't think so, although there are some pieces I like in there.

Let us know if you want to move seguin for some complimentary pieces though. My assumption is no.

I would do eberle for seguin and Hamilton though, and even then I would have to think about it. Ebs just came off a 76 point season as a sophomore, so he's not going anywhere,

Thats what she said.

In before "No Eberle without Seguin" posts. Which is clearly not going to happen, for either team.

Well, if the Bruins had 4 Seguins then I might listen. Haha.

Haha absolutely horrible for Boston. Seguin just came off a 67 point season as a 19 year old.

I think both teams are better off keeping Seguin and Eberle.

Yikes. You would have to think about it? That solves the Oilers woes immediately. RNH-Seguin down the middle, Yakupov-Hall on wings and Dougie Hamilton the cornerstone prospect on D. Even frees up pieces like Gagner to be moved to fill other holes.

Way too much for Boston to give up. Not the right type of compensation coming back to Edmonton.

A more realistic trade would be Krejci + Hamilton for Eberle + Defenseman. Still, Eberle doesn't fill Boston's biggest need, Hamilton does.

easy pass from EDM.

EDM is past the drafting stage and is ready to gun for playoffs.
They also need to go for quality and not quantity.

Upgrade Boychuk to Hamilton, take out a 1st and Caron\Knight and EDM will consider trading Ebs.

pieces??? Makes Edmonton worse off. It's time for them to go quality over quantity, not the other way around.

The value is definitely there, but the Oilers are simply not going to trade Eberle to Boston unless Seguin or Hamilton ++ come back.

Yeah, that 2014 1st is probably over the top. But I wish we had a D prospect better than our number 2 but just below Hamilton. But realistically (even though any trade is pretty much unrealistic lol) it would be Krejci/Hamilton for Eberle/very good D prospect.

I was actually gonna make the thread Eberle OR Hall. Who do you guys value more? I think the cost certainty is a factor as well. What kind of contract are you gonna have to give Ebs after this year. 6.5?

value wise.. i cant pick it apart... although boston sure ends up screwed if eberle gets hurt...

but i just dont see where its advantage to edmonton to move such a bluechip kid like eberle right now. edmonton would end up with a glut of centers too and a couple have unmovable contracts.

maybe.. if boston ate the bullet on belenger? and instead of a 2014 pick added some immediate help of comparable value?

if im edmonton i still dont do it... eberle and hopkins are the keepers... if anyone moves i think its hall... obviously hemsky and gagner before hall...

but no real neeed to move anyone right now

Eberle isn't going to Boston unless Hamilton or Seguin are heading back.

Boston has no business trading Seguin or Hamilton, just like Edmonton has no business trading Eberle. This is akin to trading Crosby for Ovechkin circa 2009

Not an absolutely terrible proposal but I'll counter with:

Seguin
McQuaid

Gagner
2013 1st
Nick Schultz
David Musil

Edit: before 20 more people quote this post...I know proposal is bad, I was offering a package similar to the OP. Value/quality going one way, quantity of lower value pieces going the other way.

BOS might be interested in Marincin or Gernat (big Slovak high potential D prospects for Chara to mentor)
Then there is also Teubert (buddy of Ebs) who could be shipped along.

EDM (atleast the fans) would actually want more then Krejci + Hamilton for Eberle ..

So you're countering a decent proposal with a terrible one.

I think the guy was trying a counter something where the quality was going the other way.
Add in another 1st from EDM and this terrible proposal is on par with OP.
