Consider the rate of inflation on most NHL deals, he basically got a a cost of living increase.

Well done.

Great contract. Minimal risk for the Sabres if/when he gets hurt.

He's not Connolly fragile.

I am waiting for the first LEGO related injury though.

Logged on and saw this and was made happy. I like Kaleta and enjoy watching him play. I think he improved his play in the ending half of this past season. I logged onto Facebook and the Sabres page posted this and so many people are crying bloody murder saying things like "He is the worst NHLer" and "Worst signing ever" Like... ever hear of depth... and Kaleta isn't terrible. So in closing good signing for a tough player who can hit and kill penalties, and sometimes show some nice offense.

Off topic but any news on Ennis?

He didn't get much of a raise over his QO ($1,002,750), but he wasn't going to take that since it was a two-way.

Very good contract. If he continues to be as good defensively and can keep up his physical play without missing too many games, his continued presence with us will be great.

People want players like him to be shut down forwards, aggravate, fight, and oh yeah, score at least 10-15 goals a year. People are dumb.

Vogl says 3 years, $3.825M ($1.275M each year, flat), but I don't think that's right. We'll see.

Great deal for us, bottom 6 agitator who can PK and actually play hockey for a pittance. Well done Darcy.

He makes half of what Brandon Prust does

Even if that is right, it's still fine considering where his QO put him at to start with.

Yeah, I'm going to believe Chris Johnston and the NHLPA site over Vogl.

Great news. Welcome back, Pat! Useful player, it's not his fault that the offence can't cash in on the penalties he draws.

Now get Ennis signed! What's the hold up? I'm starting to get worried.

This is what I predicted for him to make a couple weeks back, running cap numbers. Right in the wheelhouse.

Don't worry, there are plenty of better RFA's out there that still haven't signed.
They have plenty of time to get a deal done and it's normal for players without arbitration rights to take longer.

Good, sounds about right. Figure Darcy has to do something while he waits for Doan to decide on whether hes gonna leave PHX and plays offer tag with ANA (which we and PHI apparently are doing)

I'd expect Weber to show more assertiveness now that his buddy, Ott, is here - and Regehr will still be his usual ornery self. Add those 2 to the aforementioned 3, with Scott in the dugout, and that's 1/3 of the skaters that can be dressed on any given night.

Without a doubt, that's the smart way to go for the Sabres rather than putting all their eggs into 1 or 2 baskets.

Although he'll probably see a lot of the usual 8-10 minutes per night as a 4th liner, I still wish Ruff would make more use of Kaleta's good defensive instincts and skating in a 3rd line checking role.

If they are seriously chasing Doan and have a few backup plans for trades in mind, I'm sure Regier wants to give himself the maximum financial flexibility he can to work through those options. Once either of those routes get resolution, Ennis will probably be re-signed the day after.

By saying during the Ott press conference that he has no plans to trade either Ennis or Hodgson, I think you can rest easy that Ennis isn't going anywhere.

Anyone else see the irony of that title as an image when Pegula first took over, compared to embracing an image of a team that is painful, annoying and hard to play against?

Don't get me wrong - the abrasiveness that they're adding in hindsight to be tougher is a must. It just seems to fit more with a "Hockey Hell" label than a "Hockey Heaven" one....

Great deal. You had to figure he would make more per year than McCormick, and I wouldn't have been surprised had they gone to 1.5M. So 1.25 is great. The term is good, too. I think he has about three years left in him, and if he gets too banged up before then, it's not going to hurt to waive him and pay him 1.25 to play in Rochester.

Good for Patty, good for the Sabres. Now let's get the Ennis deal done...and get a little outside help.
