If you know anything about Murray, the last bit gives it away that he's playing with the media, you can imagine the smile when he said it.

And he goes on to say why he and other GMs are weary of non top tier Russian players:
Quote:
...financial enticement that the KHL can offer young prospects.

...we’ve said if we can’t get a top guy you might as well take an American or Canadian.
It's pretty clear that Murray would never seriously intend to acquire a Russian prospect unless his name was Yakupov. (his top player definition includes Federov, Ovechkin according to the source)

Either way, Kuznetsov has been quite the show recently which is unmatched by Silfverberg, despite his amazing year in the SEL.

Unrelated, Tim Murray was angry at last years development camp because he knew Silfverberg didn't want to play in the NHL last year, while Silf took shots on net.

I think Kuznetsov has a much higher ceiling, but Silfverberg is a safer pick.

Please enlighten me here: Who are Kuznetsovs line mates in the KHL?

Admit, it you pull this all out of your ass.

Looking at Silfverberg highlights, I would say yes hes a great shot. Then you look at what most of the goalies are doing and that's staying deep in their net.

This doesn't explain how those quick release bar down wristers aren't gonna go in in the NHL. There's guys with worse shots that find a way to score 20-30 or even more in the NHL, I imagine this guy will score some goals as well. No ones expecting him to score pretty well every game like he was in that playoff run, but it's hard to imagine him not scoring goals with a shot like that. Most the goalies are playing deep, and most of them still look like they didn't even see the puck.

Kuznetsov, not very close IMO

He could be Malkin-like dominating forward at his best.

Ya and I am a sens fan, skys the limit for that guy. He is an insane talent, you have to think a player as good as him will come over eventually. This isnt Radulov we're talking about, he has super star talent.

Silfs absolute highest upside is Alfredsson. Kuzy is Bure I think that should solidify this poll.

I'd say Kuznetsov.

Anyways this is going to be a great thread to bump in a couple of years.

Uhhh you don't get it do you? If a goalie stays deeper in their net, there is more room to shoot the puck.

Honestly i've never really seen kuznetsov play, can someone ellaborate how he's so good and crushing silfverberg in this poll? Just wondering i've only seen him play a little bit in the WJC and didnt look to bad.

A lot of the time he's tickling the twine when he scores, with an exceptional release. And while the goalies hang back and have a split second longer to see the puck, they still appear stunned a lot of time.

You don't quite get it, do you?

The goalies in the NHL are going to be better, no doubt. But despite this universal flaw you see in the SEL's goalies, it's still a low scoring league.

He was the best player in the WJC last year by clear margin. Total package offensively and looks like a can't miss first liner.
