Keith Yandle to SJ

I know this would never happen, but I am curious to what San Jose would have to give up for Yandle.

Probably Pavelski+, but this makes no sense if we don't trade Boyle first.

Do you think Boyle would be a part of this?

As much as I like Yandle, I couldn't see us getting him unless we traded Boyle.

Nope. Phoenix is rebuilding and would rather have the 25 year old offensive dman than the 36 year old dman.

I made this thread a week or two ago. They seemed to like Pavelski and Demers for Yandle. The problem with that we would be down a top 6 foward and if we trade Boyle for a top 6, that foward likely won't be better than Pavelski.

Phoenix is rebuilding?

I would think so. They have good young players and might lose their captain, so they probably are going to start rebuilding.

The Sharks can't afford to trade a top six without somehow acquiring one in return which is what the Yotes would want.

The interesting thing about a trade for Yandle is the Sharks could ask Boyle for a list, but there would be a bit too many variables and chances for things to go wrong

It would make more sense to acquire Yandle before Boyle is traded

Might. Even then, I don't think the franchise can afford to rebuild. I would guess they'd look to do something that could somewhat replace what Doan brings. Maybe Rundblad for Morrow, or something along those lines.

They may just have the best D core in the league

Not really. You don't trade Boyle unless you already have his replacement

I'm not sure we have the pieces. Phoenix is not rebuilding, the moves they have made have shown that they want to be competitive for the next few years. Pavelski would have to be included but would not be enough alone, and the Yotes have plenty of NHL ready defensemen so they would only take forwards and picks/prospects. Outside of the top 6, the Sharks are not very deep. This is the best package I could come up with that the Coyotes might be interested in that doesn't hurt the Sharks too much, and I'm not sure either team will or should do it.

Keith Yandle

Joe Pavelski
Tommy Wingels
Alex Stalock

I'm a huge Yandle fan and I would love to have him here, but it will not happen.

In reality, it can be argued (with varying levels of success) that they already have his replacement(s). At this point, it's really a risk-reward question. They don't need a Yandle to make Boyle expendable...it sure would help, not gonna lie. But they can already move him and give the spiel about them having guys ready to take his spot. Burns, Braun, and Demers on the right side would replace him to a significant extent and it would be similar to how they handled trading Ehrhoff in a small way. Taking a risk on youth for whatever reason to justify trading someone else.

I think it's too late for them to trade Boyle now but next year's draft would be a better time than now to make that move.

I was agreeing with you. You probably aren't used to that since we disagree most of the time.

We'd probably prefer it if you left out the two pro contracts we don't need. Personally, I wouldn't go for it, but I can't argue that Pavelski and a 1st isn't decent value, and about as good an offer as HF is going to produce.

If Yandle is traded to San Jose, either one of Joe T. or Marleau would be coming in the other direction.

Yandle will not be traded unless it is massive overpayment that includes 1st line scoring.
