Went with BUF. Miller is one of the most fundamentally sound goalies in the league but at the very same time, he is tilted very easily so... steal games, blow games. Jets have a... balanced team imo similar to what we had (albeit weaker) when we were a #8/#9 team... as does FLA. To exclude the last sensible option, TBL. With Carle, Bergeron, Hedman... they'll do fine and VL, Stamkos and MSL too.... as for the one major weak point in goal.... they're willing to adapt and try out younger goalies and other options unlike last year when they were dead stuck with Roloson and Garon. This year, they're committed to a goaltending cycle to find the #1 guy (Lindback?).
While I don't think Florida will win their division next season, they won't regress THAT much in the standings. They've got some solid vets and will inject Huberdeau into the line-up next season and from what I've watched of him and heard about him - he will most definitely make an impact at the NHL level, maybe even contend for the Calder.
With that said... I don't think the Jets are bad, per say... but they don't have much an identity and outside of their big guns in Kane, Enstrom, and Buff - offensively, you never know what to expect from a squad like that. They'll be solid in nets with Pavs, but I can't see them beating out any of the teams in their division and will likely be a streaky team all year 'round.
Buffalo, as many posters have already touched upon, will have Miller who's (IMO) going to play like a man possessed next season. He's not getting any younger and with the changes they've made, it could pan out to be a disaster or a triumph, we'll see.
Went with Buffalo. A lot of youth on their team, but I don't know how they intend to compete with their roster. Leino will have to improve. Vanek and Pomenville is their offense. I don't like their center depth. Their D isn't proven enough. Miller will have to stand on his head to get them into the playoffs.
Buffalo is bad, but unless Markstrom comes in and plays absolutely lights out for Florida, I can't see them finishing much higher than this. Last year everything went about as right as it could go for them.
How is Buffalo being underrated? They simply don't have a good team right now.
Because they always seem to play us tough: even last year, we beat them 3 out of 4 times (I believe) but all I remember was that last game against them when Mitchell had two turnovers that lead to goals and Hank had probably his worst game of the season (probably the worst I had ever seen him play)...Miller always seems to bring his A game against us too (regardless of how poorly he may be doing, in a bad funk recently, etc.)
I don't see Florida dropping so much from where they were past season either. Sabres are typically at least closer to the play-offs and with Miller in the net I don't see them so far off the play-offs. Winnipeg is going to be my choice next round so I'm going with TBL - aging stars and A LOT of uncertainty in goal.
Edit, obviously in aging stars I don't mean Stamkos.
