I'd like to see him at first for the next decade.

Wow. Are you saying we should get rid of Mauer? He's the only catcher in A.L. history to win the batting title, and he's done it three times. This year he is in third place and could possibly win his fourth. I will never understand this bitter Twins crowd that thinks we should dump Mauer. Boggles my mind.

He teased us with power one year, so it soon became an expectation. Although they kind of have a point. It shouldn't be such a struggle for him to get to even 10+ HRs which is a bit frustrating.

Well his stats always showed very little power. It was always wishful thinking to hope he would sustain. Its not his fault he had a fluke season. Unless he was on roids. Then it was his fault I guess.

Mauer's best years might be behind him when this organization gets it's wheels spinning. For every good year Mauer has, he's also had some bad years. The fact that they are not pushing Mauer out from behind the plate is a major concern.

I understand that he'll never complete an entire season. That's almost impossible but how much wear and tear is that going to do for the next season?

No trade, no nothing. Morneau, Span, Willingham all still here, and so are are lame a** pitchers. You know how many pitchers on this team would be here on a true American league (not just pathetic Central) contender? Here's who should be here....
1. ???????
2. ???????
3. ???????
4. ???????
5. Diamond......maybe.

That's it. THIS TEAM NEEDS TO ********* SELL EVERYTHING AND ANYTHING AND REBUILD LONG TERM AND THEY SIT AND DO JACK S***! I was trying to have faith in Ryan, but he is no different then the ineptitude of Smith anymore. Couldn't agree with Joe Christensen more: http://www.startribune.com/sports/tw...6.html?refer=y

Such a ********* pathetic hors**** organization, ******* em.

Has the deadline passed yet? I thought I heard some rumblings that the Dodgers, Giants and Blue Jays were looking to trade for Morneau.....

I'd agree with that Strib article but I'm far too meh about the Twins to give a rip.

Sad year...I'm a huge Wild fan and stopped caring last season, my girlfriend's a huge Twins fan and stopped caring last season. Hopefully the Twins can overhaul the roster like the Wild did the last couple years.

The Twins don't even need a roster overhaul. They just need a pitching staff overhaul. Our lineup 1-9 isn't too bad with Mauer, Morneau, Willingham, Span, and Plouffe(if he can keep it up).

I feel the same. Just like the Wolves, Wild and Vikes, the Twins were plagued by injuries this year, not the least to their staff (three starters out pretty much the entire year).

This. The Pohlads need to get out the feckin checkbook and actually bring in some talent, since other than Gibson who is coming back from injury it's not in the minors.

Good luck with that. The Twins don't pay for pitching. They never have and as long as the Pohlad's are the owners, they never will. I'm waiting for Ryan to leave again citing the upper management won't let him do his job, like he did the first time.

Not sure if this has been mentioned here yet but apparently Span turned down a trade to the Reds.

With the Twins sitting in fourth place in the American League's Central Division and the Red sitting in first place in the National League's Central Division, it seems strange on the surface that Span would turn down a chance to seemingly go to the playoffs.
If that's true that's interesting. I do like Span as both a player and a person. Nice 4 for 4 last night too.

I've seen multiple articles on it so I think it is true. I was happy to see him stay though. Plus my two jerseys are Liriano (purchased after the rookie season) and Span so it's nice to still have one to wear.

It was something MLB Network later backtracked on - Span doesn't have a no-trade clause and couldn't turn down a trade if he wanted to.

Yeah, it's too bad they can't just pack it in now instead of making us suffer through another two months of ineptitude.
