Can't believe I'm gonna be the first person here to call this one, but I say
Doan - Pheonix. Yeah I know, daring, eh? But thus far, he's given me no indication that he's really considering leaving the Coyotes. I know the situation may force his hand. But I'm calling Pheonix for him.
Roloson - I'm gonna call Vancouver on this one. I think he got his post-season taste 2 years back, and the taste is burning in his mouth. He doesn't want to hang em up yet, he wants one more kick at the can.
I could easily see Dallas and/or Nashville filling out their defense with guys like Colaiacovo, Hannan and Rozsival.
Aside from that, there are only a few solid options left for Shero to go after right now, IMO. Doan, AK, and Huselius. Outside of these three I'm a little bit worried about our top six going into this season.
CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled without the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $70,200,000
CAP PAYROLL: $44,836,583
CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $25,363,417
Say they miss out on the Doan signing?
They then have to spend Over $9,2m - just to reach the cap floor!
With the current reamaining crop of UFAs I do not see it as remotely possible.
Maybe Bettman conveniantly lowers the cap floor in thenew CBA?
Otherwise - What are they going to do?
Trade for Redden, Tim Thomas and Scott Gomez?
Will be interesting to follow...
We have NINE defensemen total - the top-4 is 100% set in stone, and the remaining five are all competing for the last two spots. Unless those guys are being converted to forward (which I suppose is possible with Gilroy ), It Ain't Gonna Happen.
The folks we'd be after who are left would be guys like Arnott and Sykora. If we're after anybody at all.
Didn't realize they had that many..!
Wiz, Tyutin, Moore, Johnson, Aucoin...? EDIT: oh Nikitin too...
Are Erixon, Murray ready?
and to be fair these were all picks i made at the start of free agency that i'm regurgitating

I was curious too - I'd figure Sabre fans would guess at that, based on Regier's statements a few weeks ago about wanting to add a veteran center with some size and simple facts of relying on a pair of 23-year old centers otherwise. If the Sabres end up missing on Doan and trade instead for a scoring winger like Ryan, I'd expect Arnott to be a low-cost, short-term option to sign.
If the Sabres somehow do sign Doan, I think they'd try to trade for a younger center using a winger (i.e. Stafford, who Doan would replace) and defenseman.
I dont think he signs with Buffalo...or if he does it will be cheap. Arnott is not a #1 Center. Sure he gives veteran leadership but i dont think he does more than 15 goals. Playing the rookie Center will likely have more goal production.
Their priority is get a #1 Center who would not be a pure rental for a year and see him walk. I they try to trade for Getzlaf then they will want to see what it takes to sign him long term. I think their first choice would be Stasny for a #1 center role.
