Tough road ahead for Canada's Andrew Ford, got stuck in the same heat as both Ryan Lochte and Michael Phelps in the semis of the men's 200m individual medley.

To answer the OP, I couldn't care less.

When the games go back to amateurs only without the big corps and their gigantic waste of public funds for their own image, I'll consider getting interested again.

Canada's women's Badminton pair got through to the medal round (semi-finals) with a 3-set victory over Australia.

They had previously been eliminated, but a couple teams were disqualified for throwing games (see what tanking can do??), so they got back in and are headed to the medal round with that Quarterfinal win!

They had a great swim, but not quite good enough.

It's a shame that this country as a whole doesn't care more about the Olympics. That's why I'm doubly proud if one of our athletes find success in the Games. They are going against China, USA, Germany, Australia, etc., whose athletes are way way better financed and supported.

I like to watch every events, except table tennis which bores the hell out of me.

Regarding the tanking: It's kinda unfair to blame those disqualified. Asking them to give it all in meaningless matches. They should rethink the format to eliminate those meaningless matches in the first place.

I don't care about Olympics, just a monumental waste of $$$, and the athletes, as good as they may be, are sorrily just puppets of the people in charge...

Anybody who did read about what was the goal of the athletes in the Olympic games of ancient Greece, knows that now, those games are just a corruption of what it was...

Anyway, it will end soon, and everything will be forgotten after 1 or 2 weeks...

Oh, and I just answered to the OP, no need to get berserk at me.

PS There one thing though, I do care about ONE thing, and it's Olympic Hockey, because, well, that's hockey.

What is "amateur" anyway? You think Michael Phelps, who has practically been doing what he does almost every day in his life and nothing else, is an "amateur"? Or those 100% state funded and supported Chinese athletes?

When you reach such a high level, you are no longer amateur. If you are honestly interested in the amateurs only, then I expect you to regularly attend the local events.

It would be nice if these billions went to help real people do sports (or any other number of far more important things). Its such a ridiculous waste that brings nothing to 99% of people. It makes me furious to think this stuff is paid for by the public and they get nothing for it.

Have you guys seen the reports that London's tourist industry (restaurants, stores, attractions) are in crisis? There are far less people than usual, apparantly the games scared people that would have otherwised visited the UK. Lanes have been reserved for athletes and ''the olympic family (incl organisers, sponsors ect.)'' on the freeways, so the dudes just troll the population driving around in limos while the poor masses suffer worse traffic than usual.

He's probably not very liked after his comments on Phelps.

EDIT:

I find it amusing that in women soccer, the players don't roll around in pain after fouls.

To be honest, I think it's the women who role around in pain after a foul in the mens game: Louise Suarez, Christina Ronaldo, Stephanie Gerrard...
