He's a center, and would fill a void. Outside of young prospects, the Wings don't have a ton of forward depth. This would address that. Plus Stemps is really versatile and could slot in any where.

IMHO its a fair deal but if detroit wants emmerton in the deal as a player dump so be it. he could be our 3rd or 4th call-up. The reason i think Feaster re-signed Stempniak was because he didn't know if Hudler would sign, and if we trade Jbo for flip, Stempniak would the odd man out.

Why is Ortio in the deal? I don't think Detroit needs a goaltender.

We don't need centers we need high scoring wingers. You know why flippers played wing? Cuz they wanted him top six and not on the 3rd line.
Helm has the 3rd center spot. 4th is a mixture of Abdelkader and Emmerton.
Stajan is useless to the wings. Stemps is ok but Cleary plays the same role of a speedy fore checker with some offense.
So ya definitely not enough value in that proposal.
I wouldn't do it as Glencross is our best pker and only physical top 6 player outside of Iginla he has to many intangibles to trade for that package switch him with Backlund.

Curtis Glencross is a great two way forward that can put up 25-30 goals a season. So yes, I would absolutely say Nyquist would have to come a long ways from where he is today to come close to being as efficient and helpful to his team as Glencross is currently.
Nyquist can only hope to become as productive of an NHL player as Glencross is today.
He is simply not worth a top six player on a steal of a contract.
Until Nyqvist proves anything in the NHL, GlenX has the higher value of course. But I'm also pretty high on Nyqvist, in the limited games he had he has looked really good, as in Datsyuk-lite good.
That being said, GlenX is on a really good contract and he is worth more to the Flames by far. But as I mentioned before, wings need a high scoring winger, not just another solid two way. I'm looking at 30-40 goal elite offense player like Hossa whom also had really good two way qualities.

While Nyquist has good potential, you never, ever, ever, trade players like glencross. You have a guy who took a hometown discount, plays pk, stands up for teammates, rocks bodies and is all around a heart and soul guy.
These guys are not very easy to find. Ott, Clutter, Glencross and somewhat Lucic. You don't touch these.
The trade is is then, based on your trade. Glencross for a kid who has some ahl spark so far. If you trade the like of Curtis, you make it a big return. There are only 5 NHL players in Calgary worth a massive return. If the likes of Ott can score you a top two center, you'd want the same for glencross.
Also the fact you're just saying that he could put up more points potentially than glencross tells me nothing positive about your suggestion.

If Nyquist becomes a Hossa or Datsyuk type player, then of course he is worth far more than Glencross. With that said, I cant say he has done enough to warrant such praise or expectations.
