I love how people say "Kesler's only had one good year in 2010-2011" What people don't realize is Kesler scored more points the year before that but no "Only one good year" Kesler is much better than Filpulla at both ends of the rink, call me when Filpulla is nominated for 3 Selkes(And wins one), scored 40 goals, and singlehandidly wins a playoff series for your team.
Better in 1 season does not mean Filppula is better than Kesler career-wise.
If you need only 1 season to be convinced of Filppula's numbers (especially when he has never reached 60 points prior to that season), then you need higher standards.

Keep your 49p 2line center on a stacked Canuck team and Wings keep Filppula!
Stats are quite the same, one is declining and the other is on the rise! Kesler on 2nd line duty and Filppula on 3rd... Stats lie?
Kesler's stats are STILL BETTER regardless of how you're trying to argue. 0.60 PPG > 0.53 PPG End of story. You need math help if you think 0.6 = 0.53.
Of course, you assume Kesler is declining...now you're just trolling. You conveniently fail to take into consideration that Kesler himself said he wasn't healthy at the start of the season, and he had hip and shoulder problems.
The value is close, but there is no reason for Vancouver to do it. Why break up team chemistry for a lateral move that wont pay full dividends 3-4 years later?

That's how many years of production you'll get from Datsyuk.
I don't care for this trade idea at all, I just hate how anybody over 30 is suddenly headed for the HFboards retirement home.
Just because he could probably play to that age doesnt mean he will. I seriously feel like Datsyuk will retire younger then most expect.

you cant simply take 2 players stats, line them up and then determine who is better.
if i was building a team and a choice between the 2, id take Kesler 10 out of 10. Maybe DET fans wouldnt, who cares.
point being just because someone gets more or less points, has really no significance to the calculation of who is better. its about as relevant as a survey of their favourite ice cream.
I think other Canucks fans underrate Filpulla. I don't think Kesler is as vital to our team as many make it. I would do:
To Detroit:
Kesler
To Vancouver:
Filpulla
Jarnkrok
Nyquist
Conditional 2nd rounder given if Filpulla doesn't re-sign here
Haha Kesler is not that good. It might be what the Canucks would need to move him, which would be a stupid move by them anyways, but you are not getting Filppula and our 2nd and 3rd best prospects.

If anybody knows that points don't tell the whole story it's Detroit fans. From what I could tell nobody was saying Filppula is better then Kesler. I don't think he is much worse I think Kesler has gotten a lot of pub playing for Van and his 40 goal season really put him on the map. He had a problem living up to that last year.
I think that the comparison in points was to show that Kesler isn't THAT much more valuable than Filppula. The real difference is Kesler's physical play and contract. I Filppula was signed to a good deal the difference would be Cleary +.

Never happened in the history of the sport. And why would anybody want to call you anyways?
If I read "Kesler is on the decline" one more time, I think I might give up the internet...anyone believing a bad season, largely due to injuries, after a steady rise constitutes a peak needs their head examined, regardless of the player we're talking about.
I love gallagher and because ur from vancouver im sur u like him too, so what do u want more ?
Gallaghers fine, but for what Kesler brings to our team, he doesn't make up for the downgrade from Kes to Pleks, A top 4 dman would be nice, but bare in mind, we're not likely to ever move Kesler.

I believe u don't and he's certainly one of my favorite players, but he had a bad season.
If you have ever played sports at a competitve level you know there are guys that have the desire to win that allows them to play through pain. take it up a level when it matter most.
Imo Toews is the ideal top line center. Low maintenence highly skilled extremely motivated and clutch.
There is a reason he was a younger stanley cup champion Captain than crosby.
Some players are faster bigger have better shots put up better season long #'s. Very few NHL players scare me as much as Toews with the game on the line.
Disagree if you want but kesler is also that type of player. The bigger the moment the more he gives you. In all three Zones.
I have not seen flippula ever get to near that level of compete. Yes he had a nice season last year. He could have another one this year. I want to see him stand out in the playoffs then ill start to consider him a legit Star.
