*sigh*

Kesler is not moving unless it's for an upgrade at C. It makes no sense for the Canucks to move him now coming off a poor season highlighted by serious surgery. His value is at its lowest in the last 3 years.

Canucks fans in here will not be okay with trading Kesler unless it's for a stupid overpayment. Please HF hivemind, retain that piece of information this time.

1. Detroit fan proposes trade involving Kesler to the 'Wings.
2. Canucks fans counter with what they see as a better proposal.
3. People trash Kesler and say he's over-rated.

This forum is mind-numbing.

I would love to get rid of Franzen for Kesler. He is from Michigan too so that doesnt hurt either. Not a fan of his acting skills, but the talent is worth the baggage.

Getting rid of Franzen would be AWESOME.

Seems like a fair trade!

Getting Franzen for Kesler one year removed from a Selke. Sweet.

I am sure the Wings would have to add, but just a starting off point.

When you say "getting rid" it doesn't make that player sound enticing to take back.

You'll have to forgive him, we just spent the afternoon arguing whether or not Franzen is lazy. As you weened, he finds him quite lazy.

Kesler to Detroit makes no sense at this point in time, for those Canucks fans that just NEED to hear it to feel good about HFboards again.

Go start a poll on HF Kelser would win by miles. Go ask every GM in the league, Kesler would have 30 more votes.

Vancouver trading Kesler for Franzen as the main piece would be taking a step back. Wishful thinking from Wings fans.

No he is not. The value Kesler brings to Vancouver is the same as Datsyuks value to the Wings. You have to give to get.

I honestly wouldn't trade Kesler for Datsyuk straight up. Kesler is just hitting his prime while Datsyuk isn't getting any younger.

Seven less games and 18 more points than the young and plucky Kesler, picked first by his peers in the fantasy all-star draft and nominated for the Selke - yep, sounds like a HUGE decline to me.

if you compare his game today to his game 3 or 4 years ago he is not the same. sounds like a decline to me

Well you're ridiculous, because put Datsyuk behind the Sedins and on their powerplay and you're basically going to win the next 3 Cups. That level of puck control and creativity would be unrivaled.

Detroit needs to add but Vancouver has no reason to do the trade. Besides I'm not high on fillpulla offensively like the rest of you are.

Kesler simply loves vancouver, so he isn't going to waive his no trade clause to detroit, even if it's his hometown. Franzen+ wouldn't be enough to nab him, it'll take severe overpayment. One season of not living up to standards doesn't mean a damn thing. He's much better than filppula.

@ Red Wings Fan: He would actually be a top 6 forward on the wings, since he's versatile enough to play on the wing. Well he's going to remain as a canuck for a long time, so It's pointless to talk about this.

I do say so. Sedins + Datsyuk would be the best 1/2 punch in the entire NHL by a mile (well maybe a kilometer Crosby/Malkin). And the 1st powerplay unit would be unstoppable with the 3 best puck control players in the world.

Are you paying attention? I'm complimenting your team.

If it was guaranteed Vancouver would win a cup then I'd be all for it, but it doesn't. I'm happy with what we have as a team right now and I wouldn't be willing to trade a much younger Kesler for an ageing Datsyuk. What if after the 2013/2014 season the Sedins and Datsyuk retire? It's definitely a possibility and I think its already been mentioned here before that the Sedins would consider retiring after their contracts are up. That would leave us with Schroeder and Gaunce as our 1-2 punch down the middle. I'm a true believer that Vancouver wants to rebuild on the fly and not have to tank for 5+ consecutive seasons to field a competitive team again.

Maybe I'm looking too far into this but trading Kesler for Datsyuk does not help us in the long run. Sure it would be cool to see the Sedins and Datsyuk on the same PP but not at the expense of Kesler.

There is a reason he was a younger stanley cup champion Captain than crosby.

Some players are faster bigger have better shots put up better season long #'s. Very few NHL players scare me as much as Toews with the game on the line.

Disagree if you want but kesler is also that type of player. The bigger the moment the more he gives you. In all three Zones.

I have not seen flippula ever get to near that level of compete. Yes he had a nice season last year. He could have another one this year. I want to see him stand out in the playoffs then ill start to consider him a legit Star.
Not correct.

Sidney Crosby was 21 years, 10 months, 5 days old on the day he lifted the Stanley Cup in 2009.

Jonathan Toews was 22 years, 1 month, 11 days old when he did it in 2010.
