Went with Bulmer, to be what he has over phillips is that i see bulmer as a safer bet for the NHL impact. i think Bulmer can be a beast of a 3rd liner where as phillips not so much. still love both of them as prospects and it was a close decision
Upside too high to ignore. For everyone saying his stats were inflated because SJ was stacked, he won MVP on a stacked team due in part to the fact that he carried the team when Huberdeau was injured and before Coyle was there. I love Bulmer but kind of feel he gets overhyped in due part to how big he is in a somewhat undersized prospect pool.
i think its just folks balancing potential vrs probability of making it. Most probably feel that Bulmer will be an NHLer one day, even if its as a third liner. Phillips seems to be pure boom or bust. I voted for Bulmer but find Phillips to be an incredibly interesting prospect.
Phillips as our 8th or 9th prospect (in MN HF board's opinion) is outstanding. If your gonna have a boom/bust prospect its nice to have them so deep on the list. I wonder where management 'ranks' him.
Who would you guys compare Phillips to in the NHL right now?
If I remember correctly, didn't his coach compare him to Adam Oates? Does everyone think that's a good comparison?
I've heard that comp thrown around a couple times and I think it's a decent one. I obviously don't think he will be as productive as Oates was in his career but he's a similar player with great vision and hands but not great foot speed.

We have 4 top forward prospects that are average skaters, i sure as hell hope there is a detailed plan.
He's got great hands and vision, but average wheels. As far as Phillips projection in the NHL, I think a lot of you are discounting his compete level (lol). He could transition his game to suit a 3rd line role if there's no room for him in the top 6. He's got to be gritty. Look at the beard!
Went with Phillips. Surprised Bulmer leads this to be honest, I like him but Phillips is a better prospect. We will see who is the better player later.
His defensive awareness and ability to play gritty and even fight easily allow him to play alot more than a top 6 role, although his offensive instincts are second probably only to Granlund. By the way Phillips skates every bit as well as Granlund and is alot tougher and bigger.
Phillips is also one year post draft as opposed to Bulmer, Larrson, Granlund, Coyle who are two years post draft, so Ill take that into account as well.
The UNDERVALUED one for me, Phillips.
Adam Oates, good comparison, thou I see Patriece Bergeron-(alot of the same cctritique was made of him-skating) and if he gets quicker Patrick Sharpe...good sized right handed shooting centerman are very desireable.
Not a huge fan of Bulmer, he seems to not be very strong on the puck and sometimeseven looks lackadaisical. Wasn't overly impressed by him when i watched him at the scrimmages in July.
I was at the Sunday scrimmage but that is not at all what I saw. The second half of the scrimmage he was dominating people physically out there. He was crashing and banging and making things happen all over the ice.
Only 3 people have votes and one of them has a single one. That's a waste of 12 prospects.
Who knows, we could end up with a Cinderella Story with one of these polls. Some scrappy prospect comes out of nowhere to sway the voting hearts and minds of the posters?
Why? Other than their approximate height, they don't have any similarities.
Neither were dominant in juniors offensively. Bulmer's had a little better points but the same or fewer goals. Gillies played at least in a couple international tournaments whereas Bulmer has zero international nods.
If Bulmer hadn't been kept up for 9 games last year I don't think he'd be rated anywhere near as high as he has been.
I do think Bulmer's got a little better hands than Gillies, possibly a little better scoring instincts...but I honestly don't see him as much more than Clutterbuck at the NHL level.
