Did you see the interview with Michael Ryder after the game? The interviewer relayed the shame statement on to Ryder, and asked if he agreed. You could see Ryder was taken aback when the word shame was mentioned. He hesitated, then said "No". He said they were shorthanded, including the five on three, and that Carolina was quite a team, having finished second in the division.
Indeed. It was a silly comment by Cherry. He's obviously grumpy that the Leafs aren't there (that's something the article is dead right about - they seem to have a quota to meet by discussing the Leafs).
I don't understand why HNIC interviewers feel the need to ask players about something Cherry says. I'm pretty sure Ryder felt like saying, "why should I care what he thinks?"
