Travis Moen anyone? Remember the 50+ stitches he received from that skate, and he wanted to play the next game but wasn't allowed to fly. So he played the one after, around 2-3 days later. Not to mention the guys he has fought and PK work he does.

Likely wouldn't make the top 10 but would probably be over Darche.

Koivu definitely has to be number one and Gorges at number two.

I actually haven't heard it in a while. Thanks for the good memory.

I'm a Koivu slagger but there is no doubt he was a warrior. He is #1 and #2 is about 10 miles behind. He has the heart of a lion. I just wished he roared like one.

Don't understand why no one mentioned Andrei Kostitsyn?

Agreed with the consensus Koivu #1, Gorges #2. Rivet probably deserves more love

Moen 100% must be on the list. For years he was the only one who fought back against the bullies on other teams. It must suck to go into a scrum with 2-3 opposing players and know you have zero help.

Totally with you. And, love that we have Prust to help Moen and White, but Staubitz would have helped Prust, Moen, and White stick to playing hockey....no? yes?

Moen has been a solid, dependable warrior (and good team player).
Moen, Prust, and White...maybe Staubitz is missing? (for 30-40 games...especially VS sore losing teams like the Bruins who injure and violently bully when they can't play hockey). Anyways, Staubitz is not here anymore. Very very glad Prust is.

Glad our warriors are getting rewarded and not traded (Gorges, Moen). Many will bash me, but I was ecstatic when A.Kosts and his expensive yearly salary was traded for a 2nd Rnd Pick (Collberg or Thrower? or 2nd Rnd Pick in '13?). He was a semi-bust...time to move on. We have more winners we drafted (Price, Subban, Pacioretty) VS busts/semi-busts (A.Kosts).

We need more winners/warriors on our Habs (Gorges, Moen).
Players that want to win the Cup.

Koivu is # 1 and no one is even close.

Steve Begin deserves to be permanently banned from any and every list. His "big game" play included a completely moronic and selfish 4-minute high sticking penalty after the 2nd period ended in game # 82 vs the Leafs when the Habs missed the playoffs in 2007. I haven't yet and will never forgive the guy for that. What an idiot. Cost his team the playoffs.

Yeah because leaving your playoff chances to the final game of the year , was a great strategy.

Certainly not, but Begin clubbing a guy in the head with his stick after the period had ended in a very close game that had massive playoff implications, that wasn't such a great strategy either. Especially when guys are on here attempting to praise the guy as the best big game "warrior" we've had, somehow better than Koivu. Sickening.

I never liked Steve Begin, but even Koivu was notorious for taking stupid penalties at terrible times. My point is, you can go over every player in this team's history and find terrible , costly penalties they have taken.

Not to mention Huet's terrible goaltending in that game (that floating shot by--I think--McCabe, or was it Kaberle? yuck) and the PK's awful work.

People love to pinpoint the season's terrible turn out on Bégin, but the fact is, Samsonov was beyond awful, Kovalev had a really tough season, not to mention Dandouillon, Ninimaa... That, imo, was our worst season post lock-out, at least on paper.

It's pretty childish to crucify Bégin because of those 4 mins. In the grand scheme, that was 4 mins out of 4920+ mins played during the regular season. If those 4 mins of PK are what makes the difference between making the playoffs and missing the playoffs, then we definitely didn't belong in there.

Bégin deserves praise for all the sacrifices he made playing for the Habs. He blocked tons of shot, he played with his heart on his sleeve, hell, he even pissed off guys like Chara who were much bigger than he is. I don't know if he's top-10, but he deserves to be part of the discussion.

Finally some love for Zednik!

The guy ALWAYS went to the net, regardless of who was waiting to crush him when he got there. He believed that he could score on every shot and was willing to take the punishment to do so, whether that was a clothesline from hell or a skate blade to the throat.

Always went to the net before 2002

Always went behind the net after 2002

Sadly, that's true. I only really watched Zednik post lock-out, and at the end, his act was really getting tiresome. He'd always get into the opposite zone, control the puck with one hand on his stick, protect himself with his other hand, drift toward end boards and lose the puck.

I don't doubt a minute that he had more courage before that awful hit, but sadly, for the better part of the 2000s, Zednik was a shade of his former self.

Can't really take anyone that doesn't have Doug Gilmour in their list seriously.

True.. But he was just that awesome before 2002 that you have to include him in that list.. He was an unreal warrior for us before the Mclaren hit..

Are you being serious or...? Maybe you forgot the ? He had limited talent and made the NHL mostly based on his heart, dedication, pride and intensity.

Nothing against Gilmour. I really liked him. But he was way past his prime during his tenure in Montreal and was only a shadow of the player he was before.
