I'm interested to see how the next few prospects get ranked with the voting. The first four are fairly straight forward (what order they're in might differ from person to person), but it gets a little more cluttered after that.

Scarlett for me. This kid will surprise a lot of people down the road. Unbelievable offensive skills and instincts for a d-man.

Add Johnson.

I picked Burlon.

I am not sure what people are basing their pick on. Is it who has the most potential or who is closer to the NHL? or a mix of both?

Since we do this every year i think closer to the NHL should be weighted heavier

Somewhat. I think I remember reading an article recently where he was quoted saying he was having trouble keeping on weight (if only I had that problem), but he's definitely bigger than 168 lbs by now.

HF uses a combination of long-term potential (numerical grade) + the likelyhood of that player reaching his potential (letter grade), but that doesn't mean you have to vote using that criteria. Just something to keep in mind when my rankings come out

Which is basically the same thing because he is saying that a 6.5A should be higher than a 8.0D which of course depends on personal opinion.

I think NHL readiness should hold the most weight. We do this poll every year so that list should change after a full year of development. By no means am I saying to discount the potential, however.

I just dont believe we have seen enough from Matteau to say he deserves a top 5 spot. He may be a frist round pick but he is not close to the NHL yet and his potential is not projected to be very high.

I was not holding readiness in high regard. Nor do others apparently, otherwise Merrill would not be ahead of Urbom and Gelinas.
