I would really like baseball to come back and I hope the MLB can arrange a "break" during the season when the Olympics are on, just like the NHL with winter olympics. In Olympic years, start the season two weeks early (mid to late March) and end the season two weeks later (early to mid Nov) to compensate for the lost time during the Olympics. Have the best players compete in the Olympics. That's what I'm talking about!

If the US don't even send their top team, or at least something close to that, that's all the more reason to not include american football. That's a prime reason why baseball was tossed out of the Games.

This is why they need to ditch Soccer/change the rules for Soccer. I have no problem with Soccer being in at all and I like Soccer so don't come at me Soccer fans, but I have a problem with Olympic events that have age restrictions. There's youth World Cups for such things. The Olympics is meant to be the best of the best, not the best of a certain age group and three above that age group or anything like that.

Ice/mixed climbing is apparently going to be a demo sport in Sochi, which will be really cool and hopefully get it on the path towards becoming an official sport. It's absolutely perfect for the winter olympics.

With soccer I think it's understandable that they use the format they do, because the Olympics are not going to overshadow the World and Euro Cups, and the full national teams play so many matches already between club and international play. Nevertheless, soccer is worth having in the Olympics because:

-Just about every country participates in the sport
-It gets a lot of athletes to the Olympics
-Any Olympic-level city is going to have plenty of soccer venues available, so it's low overhead

It's not even about FIFA or the IOC ar UEFA. It's about the clubs that doesn't want see their players to get injured in a "meaningless" game.

That is why we don't see American Football in the Olympics. And that's also the reason why we didn't see NHL-players until the Nagano Winter Olympics in the mid 90's.

What's with fencing being an Olympic sport? All they do is poke each other.

You can argue that any sport is boring because wether it is or not is entirely subjective. If you don't like water polo, don't watch it.
By far the most boring/worst olympic sport, even sailing is more fun to watch and all of the above you listed. There just shouldn't be teamsports too similar to something else, just a difference maker being that it's played in water as handball is not. Also as i said, not very friendly for viewers.

Let's kick hockey out of the Olympics. It's far too similar to field hockey, which is both an older sport and played in more countries.

Just because you don't like a sport doesn't mean it shouldn't be there.

I don't think getting a lot of athletes to the Olympics and having plenty of venues available are very good justifications for it being there. The Olympics should be the best of the best, the elite, it shouldn't be about trying to get lots of people to it.

I have absolutely zero problem with Soccer being there, but anything less than the best of the best is not Olympic worthy to me.

How come bowling is not in the Olympics? Is it not popular enough outside of the US?

I really don't think it is popular. It's big enough in Canada for it to be a sport, I think...well as big as air rifles...

I wish lumberjack was big elsewhere - it should be like gymnastics with five or six of the biggest events, then having an all-around and a team competition!

Canada would probably dominate...but it's really exciting to watch!!

I'd like to see something like who can throw a baseball the furthest or kick a soccer ball the furthest or accuracy in throwing a baseball at a target from different distances. Maybe getting a basket ball in from the furthest distance. Also have a medley event having to throw a baseball, basketball, frisbee etc. the furthest or most accurate. Something like that.

Hockey is nothing similar to field hockey, you probably never watched field hockey then.

Along with Rugby 7's & Golf (both confirmed in 2016)
Auto Racing (have your countries best engineers create a car) - no restrictions (road racing)
Rock Climbing (must be timed)
