I'm excited for the fall. Football season, hockey season, no more need for air conditioning, I can tune into sports talk and not have to hear about baseball, holiday season right around the corner...

Specific to hockey season - I really love coming home from work and eating dinner in front of a Pens game. I think they'll be fantastic this year. Last year was kind of meh because of the Crosby injury. When he came back, he still wasn't 100%. This year will be entertaining at the very least.

So much filthyness. I've watched these goals literally hundreds of times by now (in addition to watching the games when they were scored of course) and I still get chills.

For as much as we nit-pick this team, Shero and Bylsma, this team is still one of the top contenders and will be for a long time. This thread sort of made me realize I have it good being a Pens fan

Certainly better than no cup since 76 (Flyers) and no cup AT ALL (Caps)

i'll go the Tim Hardaway route. I'd like Sid to show all those who think he's a shell of his former self:

I'm pumped for training camp to see what the rookies will do. Tangradi, Despres, Strait, & Bortuzzo all need to step it up now.

That Crosby goal was one of the best moments I can remember as a Pens fan.

My addition to this thread: I am excited this goal is in the play repertoire.

Just saw an article on the front page of ESPN where they had a few writers picking their ultimate starting 6. Two of the three of them picked Stamkos at center. One picked Malkin.

That is fine, but this comment (from Tim Boughton whoever that is) got me fired up:
Quote:
At center, I'm going to go a little more conventional. Although he is easily one of the top 10 players in the league, every time I watch him play, I still think he is underrated: Evgeni Malkin. The guy is basically unmovable when he has the puck and he stickhandles like a smaller guy. I'll take him every day over Sidney Crosby -- oooh, big deal, Sidney, you dented up your parents' drier shooting pucks into it; Malkin wouldn't have damaged the drier because all his shots go in. (Not sure why I'm suddenly hating on Sidney Crosby, but I'm just tired about hearing about him when Neal and Malkin are just as good in different ways.
I feel like Crosby's dominance over the league has faded in peoples' minds while he has been on the shelf for that year and a half. I can't wait to watch him drop a deuce on the league over the course of this season and re-establish himself as a dominant center in the NHL.

I am hoping he puts up a 50+ goal, 120+ point season and returns to where he was just before his concussion for a whole season.

I thought I would fire you guys up by listing the awesome nicknames I / we conjured this FA season (who says it wasn't a productive summer?)

How could you not be excited to see the following players in camp / lineup this fall:

Macaroni (Marcantuoni)
Salsa (Megna)
Blue (Bleuger) - can't take credit, was pushing Beluga or Booger

Greasy (Neal)

And Elmer ... don't forget Elmer!

I think Malkin can be better than Crosby overall if he keeps working this hard, but ultimately it's a stupid thing to debate. But this article is further proof ESPN is clueless when it comes to hockey. "Neal just as good as Crosby but in a different way"?? That's absurd. Other than his wrist shot there is nothing Neal does as well as Crosby, let alone better than Crosby. Greasy is the man and I hope he stays here a long time, but comparing him to Sid is just dumb.

That guys is a complete ****ing idiot. I didn't know they let random scrubs on ESPN, but then again, I'm not surprised AT ALL.
