For sure he wants to play but I think it wouldn't be in the team interest to trade him. Even tough he had hard times last year he showed potential especially in the first 20 games or so where he played about 20 min/g.
Plus, it seems like swiss players develop late in their career (Diaz and Streit).
He is only 23 years old and already as over 100 games in the NHL, not bad at all.

It was an overstatement, I confess. I actually meant one of the best slap shots in Habs' recent history, and mostly in terms of power. I don't think he has terrible aim, as some are implying. I think he's trying to release it too quickly--NHL tempo and all.
In the AHL, he has very good numbers. Lots of goals for a dman. You don't get those numbers by having terrible aim. And you have to admit, he has a bomb. He can really put a lot of power behind his shots.
I really like Weber, but I could see him traded, if you look at our depth Dmen we have, Kaberle, Bouillon, Weber, Daiz, other than Bouillon the rest are pretty much the same style, with Weber being then worst of the 3.
I'd like to see Weber traded for a player in a similar situation but is a bit more physical, a Weber for Colton Tuebert(sp) would be perfect, gives us a depth Dmen that can split duties with Bouillon on the 3rd pair. Because if your taking out Bouillon and putting in Daiz or Weber with Kaberle on the 3rd, that would be the soft d pair in the league.
I guess you can say Kaberle should be the one traded, but not until Markov shows he is back to 100%, so I don't see Kaberle being traded until around the trade deadline, and by that time, I think Bealieau would be ready to take over on the 3rd pairing

He did not play 60 games as a defensemen, he was used at forward most of the time.

I hope your point isn't that playing forward should've helped his production because he was played on the fourth line with grinders, playing minimal minutes.
Habs have to much of those under-sized, finesse types in Weber, Kaberle and Diaz. We could certainly use some size in the back end.
Could Weber fetch a big D-man like Keaton Ellerby, Theo Peckham, Colten Teubert?
He isn't worth anything to any teams at the moment. He's under-sized as you say and doesn't look very reliable for every team. Best we can get if he doesn't step up at the beginning of the season is a low end pick. (ex: Chipchura, Carle)
Once the inevitable injuries happen, and the Habs often have 2, 3, or 4 simultaneous injuries on defense, he'll get another chance.
He has the potential to be a good PP specialist as he has a good shot, which is something our system needs.
IMO he should be allowed to start in Hamilton, and if he does well, he should be called up once we need injury replacements.
He's young. Young players sometimes screw up or take longer to develop. See Ron Hainsey, Francois Beauchemin and Ryan McDonagh.
McDonagh was lost not because he wasn't developed properly (he never played a game for the Habs) but because of Gainey's frantic tearing apart of the Habs and his desire to bring in Gomez. As I recall, Beauchemin and Hainsey were lost because of front office administrative blunders.
I think you're assuming Woe-ber could be another Mark Streit.Sadly, he's been inadequate as a Dman and PP point specialist in both scoring and setting up forwards. He couldn't protect the point and was helpless against shoerthanded breakaways. In his own end he was frequently outmuscled and wasn't effective in clearing the puck. Diaz and St=Denis outshone him. The Habs have several inexperienced Dman prospects who probably couldn't be much worse than Woe-ber as injury replacements.
Woe-ber was a third round pick. I would be pleased to exchange him for a 2013 third rounder (or maybe even a fourth).
