Don't agree with that. When you are recruiting you can point to the fact that you move players on to the next step, OHL, Q or NCAA. As a "development league" the CCHL purports to be, that is their goal. Far better to move guys on than to keep them back.

This league is a stepping stone for players moving on whether it be the NCAA, Major Junior, CIS or even pro. Although it is frustrating to lose a player after a short time, teams should be proud that they helped a player move on to a higher level, ultimately that is the goal for all players, if not they might as well all play 2 years of Major Midget then Jr B.

FYI, teams get a PDF for players that move on to OHL, they get nothing when a player goes to NCAA (although most play longer for them if they go NCAA).

I keep hearing rumours one of Hawks top players is on the move.......
Hrehoriak to Pembroke for Peter Antonelli. How does Hawkesbury make this trade? Unless there's something else going their way.

It is easy, Hrehoriak would not play for Hawkesbury this year. He had a number of options. There may be others ...

Good deal for the Kings and SK.

Yes I agree with you that the league is a stepping stone, but I will try and clarify what I was getting at. The reason a kid chooses a Teir one league, beyond not being able to make the Major Junior level is what?? It is to keep his eligibility to be able to play NCAA. That is the draw of the CCHL and other leagues like it. Every team that is serious about winning wants kids who are committed to going that route...NCAA schools build relationships with owners/coaches/scouts/managers of these teams because they are feeding kids to them. Teams commit alot of time, effort and money to these kids and when a kid goes to another league it is a loss to the team and the league in quetion.

They will of course put a happy face on it by wishing them well and good luck, but I think if you were to secretly poll the group at large, if 2 kids came to them and they had like skill and one kid was committed to going to the NCAA and the other unsure which route he might take, the coach would take the kid likely to go to the NCAA. Kids come to teams that get kids scholarships....The likes of PLK, Colts, Braves and Canadians that have a habit of doing so, have a way easier time recruiting kids becasue of their ability to get kids into NCAA programs, and not because they move kids to the O or the Q...In my opinion!

As far as any of the kids are concerned....good on them to move forward in whatever capacity they can....

and to your point about the PDF.... the PDF teams get from Major Junior teams is minimal...and although they get nothing from the NCAA in cash, what they get are more skilled kids that want to be part of their program due to moving kids to those US schools, which is worth way more than a few thousand bucks from the O or Q teams!

The original comment was about scholarships....of which Nepean had none last year. No need to deflect by saying championship and players going to other leagues. People were just stating a fact, that last year the Raiders moved no one to the NCAA!

No, I'm not - the team I am a fan of won.

The previous comment was about the success of the program. My point was that scholarships on their own is not the only thing to grade that on.

With the news of the Markham Waxers operations being suspended how many players might find their way into this league? A couple of them are on the list to tryout for the Canada East team.

Our teams in the CCHL should be all over the collapse of the Markham Waxers.

This is not the only team that is in the tank. More to follow.

Solution: Super League

Coming to an arena near you.

Wake up. There is NO future in a Super League. Not while the OHL is around.

That is a very good question. His former coach advises he will be at the St John Sea Dogs main camp mid August. That will be interesting.

Head coach MacInnis advises he did well at the Colts July camp. First in fitness and allowed 2 goals in the 4 scrimages of 12 puck stoppers.

However, Major Jr. And Jr. A is much different than Jr. B. The question is do you play in the jungle and get experience or sit a Jr. A bench.

Thats is a solid question, probably be a better development year for him Ed if you left him in Alexandria unless he was taking the starter job at his age, tough to get a kid to realize whats best

I get that, and having not seen these kids play I don't know if they are game changers or not. It just seems odd/sad to bring in 3 Major Midgets when there are so many 94 aged kids locally that could play.

Many teams in the CJHL have brought in talent from south of the Border ignoring local talent. Not all of them have been successful. Kanata (Lou Nistico) did this a few years ago with a player from South Boston by the name of Corey Dizoglio. They signed him just prior to training camp with a flourish that would have made Bobby Orr blush. He started on their second line and by November was back in Boston. Local boys just have to persevere and their chance will hopefully come.
