This is similar to how I'm making my decisions.

The first criteria for me is upside, but more appropriately, how likely they are to reach that upside. NHL-readiness comes next (or is a tie breaker of both prospects have similar upsides).

If the player has a higher upside AND a good probability of reaching that ceiling, I'll vote for him. But if it comes down to a player with high upside but a very small chance of him reaching that upside, and a player with medium upside but with a good chance of reaching it, I'll take the latter.

It's why I went with "potential" in Pouliot and Bennett early on, but voted "readiness" with Tangradi and Bortuzzo over who is left on the board these past two polls (and might do so with Strait the next poll).

How any of you could vote against Ben Hanowski's beard is beyond my comprehension.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that some of us are putting way too much stock in a couple days of drills and a scrimmage from a couple weeks ago. Blueger with 14 votes and Marcantuoni with 10 while Ben Hanowski leading his team in goals and points gets him one vote, and Scott Wilson's huge freshman season doesn't even get him in the poll. Shame the college kids couldn't attend prospect camp and don't have much TV exposure. I'm guessing they'd be getting an awful lot more attention otherwise.

My personal way to rank these is based on a combination of what I perceive their potential to be combined with what I perceive the likelihood of them reaching that potential is. So while I think the potential upside of Kuhnhackl, Blueger, Hanowski among others is higher, I've already seen enough to know that the likelihood of Strait and Bortuzzo of reaching their full potential is a lot higher.

Put another way - some of the other guys may never make it higher than the AHL, if even that far. Strait and Bortuzzo have already played in the NHL. The ceiling may be lower for those two, but the floor is a lot higher.

That's my long-winded way of saying I voted for Strait and Bortuzzo will be next for me.

Finally: add Sundqvist.

i'm just going to pretend that Tangradi/Bortuzzo/Strait all tied for the #8 spot - they were all AHL All-Stars for whatever that's worth.

Don't concern yourself too much. I think the Hanowski's of this world will get their pay-off from the Bortuzzo voters

Wilson had a great freshman season, but I'm still not sold on his overall potential and how his college success will translate to the NHL. He was also a bit older than most players their freshman season.

I definitely wondering how Hanowski is getting blown away by some of these other forward prospects. He has just as much potential as most of them, more size, and shown a lot more success in the lower leagues and has been a leader for St. Cloud. I'm pretty psyched to hear about him training with that one skating coach this summer. I think he's definitely bound to have one hell of a senior season.

Seriously. Go look at the Flyers poll, they're 1st round pick this year is number one.

Both of ours are 5 and 7. That's pretty cool. We have quite a few guys with great upside.

Kuhn offers more upside than Bortuzzo. I dont see Bortuzzo being a top 4 dman in the league.

Even if this were true -- and I believe the Pens do feel he has #4 potential, even if he plays 3rd pairing because of our depth -- we can't ignore the fact that Kuhnhackl had a down year, as well.

Kuhnhackl has some work to do to show that the upside we thought he had last year is still achievable. I still know that he has great potential, but there are more questionmarks at this point, until such time as he answers those questions with strong play. We won't see that until the first 20-40 games in WBS. That's why, for now, Bortuzzo is ahead of him.

Cancelliere, le stesse domande devono essere risolta da Macaroni prima egli può superare Signore Bortuzzo.

I really feel like Uher is a surefure (lol) shot for a third line role on this team. He has really impressed me so far in his development. Therefore I voted for him.
