To Philadelphia:

Bouwmeester

To Calgary:

Meszaros
Gustafsson
3rd round pick

Thoughts?

Value wise it is a decent proposal, but it really does not help Calgary much.

Meszaros is a downgrade on Bouwmeester, and Gustafsson would likely not crack the opening night roster. The 3rd holds relatively little value, and certainly is not enough to make up the difference.

If Bouwmeester was to be traded it is my belief that a top six center, or potential top six center would have to come back to Calgary. Calgary has a plethora of wingers and depth players, so downgrading our top defender for marginal pieces for the future is not really that enticing.

Pretty sure this is why he won't be traded. Calgary can't afford to lose him for anything less then a top 6 center, but I highly doubt anyone will be willing to part with a current/potential top 6 center.

Maybe if he has a good year this year they can swing him out at the deadline (if they are way Out of the playoff race, which is unlikely to be that far out. Ecspecially if bow is having a good year) or in the offseason if there's a replacement available at free agency. I haven't noted the free agents for next yer though.

Yeah, I don't think Calgary is going to downgrade their defence just to add a 3rd and Gustafsson.

Meszaros & Read might be a better place to start, though I say this with the caveat that I don't care about either team. Unbiased view.

No offense, but I severely doubt JBo gets you a top 6 center. He isn't terrible like many on here claim, but with that price tag he certainly isn't worth a top 6 guy. Meszaros and Laughton might be a deal that can be worked out, however I don't see Homer parting with Read just yet.

We are looking to compete now trading down Jbo for anything that doesn't improve this team now isn't going to happen, we aren't looking to move him unless it makes us better now.

None taken, but therein lies the problem for a team inquiring about his availability.

Lol i see what you did there.

I don't think Philly has the expendable assets to acquire a Top pairing Dman. Too many top Dmen on top level teams. Not many are going to help out Philly just to downgrade from their #1 to a #2 at best and some prospects or depth players.

Philly is going for the Cup NOW. I think that they woukd not want to part with a top 6 F but would be willing to pay high in order to keep their core F's and current prime prospects.

Meszaros
1st pick (27-30th rank)

We're going for the cup every year... but I don't think this year is going to be our year... any sane fan can admit that. We need D and already lost enough O. We tried to win it all... but this off-season nobody wanted to sign with us

Fair trade, a lot of people would consider. I haven't seen JBO play that much, like Mez and think Gustafsson is under valued.

Why do people do this? I mean seriously.

I love how you just sneak Simmonds in there. Not to mention giving us back Cam, who is an injury train wreck and a centre. Seriously. Just don't do this again.

No thanks. I keep Meszaros and Gus... Bouwmeester is so overrated IMO. He hasn't been a plus player, for the year, in 6 years and only twice in 10. PASS!

It would seem if this is true, then the best bet would be to hang onto him right? he played a ton of minutes for you guys and did alright, so moving him creates a big hole. Does Calgary have someone to step into that role for less money that is making J.Bo a luxury? If not then any move they make dealing him isn't likely to help them right now.

I think they should either move J.Bo for futures and get their rebuild on, or keep him. If they're still trying to compete now, then they're going to need him.
