Flyers's of the 80's own this topic, specifically.....
Brian Propp Tim Kerr Mark Howe
Propp and Kerr may never make the hall of fame , which would be a shame. Especially for Tim Kerr who was a dominanat force out their and an amazing goal scorer. He was much better than Cam Neely and like Cam injuries cut his career short.
Glad howe finally got in the hof but even then it was so late. Some say he was blackballed a bit by joining the wha instead of the nhl. Who is to say but the stats alone are amazing. My favorite is most SH goals by a defense man
Other 80 flyers who get no love Dave Poulin, Murray Craven, Pelle Eklund

Man, Tim Kerr is such a good pick. So true. I really do forget the guy ever existed, to be honest, and it's not fair. He was, like you say, a dominant player.
slava kozlov immediately comes to mind as a guy that was pretty underrated. if atlanta had stayed where they were, it wouldn't surprise me if his number had been hung from the rafters, as ridiculous as that may sound to many of you.
Based on the responses in the "most skilled" thread, I'm gonna say Mark Messier might be one of the most underrated players of all time.
Unbelievable that more people think Datsyuk more skilled than Messier....maybe it's because we have a bunch of kids on this board who have never seen him play.
Jere Lehtinen. One of the best 2-way forwards of all time. 3 Selkes, 514 pts and was a significant reason why Modano became the greatest American scorer.
Absolutely, great call.
Also, David Vyborny, Andrew Cassels, Robert Kron, Igor Larionov.

FYI, this thread (along with a few others) was recently moved to the history board from the main board. So his statement was probably true at the time he made it
One of the best defensive d-men of his era, but his career and contributions to two Stanley Cup champion teams are largely overlooked due to the hatchet job guys like Cherry and Milbury have done to him.
Now that this is on the history board, I can comment. I think Joe Malone gets overrated compared to his contemporaries when people quickly peruse stats
Rick Tocchet and Dale Hunter. Both were skilled, mean, nasty and always came up big when their teams needed them most. I'd love to have both on my team.
Claude Lapointe and Tim Taylor are two players I've always thought were absolute integral parts of what you need in a successful team and both very good players.
