Sooo. No idea where it came from, but whatchu think about this nonsense.

S12//S11//LaRose
Tlusty//Welsh//Semin
Skinner//Jokinen//Ruutu
Nodl//Brent//Dwyer

That 1st line is monstrous and would be impossible to get off the puck, the 2nd line has an interesting mix, and the 3rd line would cause so many mismatches it wouldn't even be funny.

That s*** would be hard to defend.

Maybe subsitute Welsh for Arnott, or swap him with Brent if he gets overwhelmed? 4th line gets spot duty and PK

Rolling three even lines and a defensive/energy fourth:

Tlusty - E.Staal - Semin
Jokinen - J.Staal - LaRose
Skinner - Welsh? - Ruutu
Nodl - Brent - Dwyer

(If Welsh isn't ready for NHL minutes, swap Skinner or Ruutu to center and bring in Bowman or another Checker)

Playing the J.Staal line against opponents #1 line would provide both defensive capability and offensive talent and allow more offensive match ups for E.Staal and Skinner lines.

Then stack up for powerplay:

Semin - J.Staal - E.Staal
Skinner - Jokinen - Tlusty/Ruutu

And penalty kill:

J.Staal - Semin
E.Staal - LaRose
Jokinen - Dwyer/Brent

So then call whatever line LaRose happens to be on the third line, if it really matters that much to you. If we're talking about a fairly even distribution of playing time then it really doesn't matter.

Besides, it makes a ton of sense to put LaRose and JStaal on the same line for late-game shifts since they probably are the best two defensive forwards on the team.

I actually like this a lot. Three legit scoring lines, and the 4th is a good energy line.

Woah there Robo, LaRose should probably be considered one of the worst defensive fowards for this team. There is a better chance that we lose the lead with Larose on the ice towards the end of a game.

He was, I believe, our most clutch goal scorer last year tho. I forget the exact numbers, but a lot of his goals were wither game winners, late game tiers, or brought us within one at end of 2nd or start of 3rd. SOmething to that effect anyway lol.

Don't quote me on this, but I think I heard he had five game winners. I have no idea about the other ones.

That sounds about right. Theres no doubt he comes out clutch in a situation where someone needs to step up. I wouldnt trust him to go out too long and protect the lead though

In line to be in our top 3 for callups, but unless he has a HUGE camp he'll start in Charlotte.

Of course not. He'd take a penalty.

I think he has an NHL future, just not a spectacular one. Decent 2nd/3rd line type who will find a job somewhere, even if it isn't here.

With the addition of Jeff Skinner, where do you see him fitting in the lineup?

First callup IMO, I've liked what I've seen from Dawes.

Ok... well... now that Skinner has been added to the lineup, we need someone to fill in for all the tantrum-related suspensions.

Has to play on the same line with Semin. You want to keep all the personality disorders together so they don't contaminate the rest of the team.

But does Jeff Skinners smiling ability allow him to be bumped up from the PDL(Personality Disorder Line) to the Chad LaRose Happy Fun Time Smile line? I feel like a Skinner/LaRose smile combo would make for a very strong line, we just don't want to give Skinner un-sheltered minutes.

Repeat after me....Chad LaRose is not a Top 6 hockey player....it is that simple. I seem to always have to qualify these types of statements with "...but I love Chad as a 3rd/4th liner....". But with the talent that we have, there is no way that Chad should see time in the Top 6 or on the PP...doesn't matter what his stats were last year; circumstances forced his line placements.

Some combination of Staal/Staal/Semin/Skinner/Jokinen/Ruutu/Tlusty is our current best Top 6 option. We probably even have better options for the 3rd line, which would make LaRose the best 4th liner in the league ;-). I'm probably in the minority, but my 3rd line would be Ruutu or Jokinen/Welsh/Bowman. I'd package picks/prospects/Nodl, Stewart, etc. for picks/prospects and ice a 4th line out of the remainder of LaRose, Dwyer, Blanchard, Bre. Sutter, Brent, Wallace, etc. I'd keep a 13th forward and rotate them in on the 4th line. The rest are in Charlotte or on the block.

I'm not saying that these guys need to go, but we have upgraded our Top 6 capability. I'd like to see us infuse youth and grit and enthusiasm (as well as a bit of scoring accumen) into our 3rd and 4th lines.

I could very easily see a Staal/Staal/Semin and Skins and Finns Top 6 and a Tlusty/Welsh/Bowman 3rd line (could easily surprise with scoring upside). That would be a tough Top 9 to play against.

He's a third line player that absolutely can play spot duty in the top 6 when injuries require it. To say he's a fourth line player is borderline insanity.
