Potential Camp Invites?

Anyone have any thoughts on who might receive a camp invite? Gillis seems to make a few every year, and they add great competition to camp.

Some potential guys who are still on the market:
Scott Hannan
Troy Bodie
Raymond Sawada
Dan Ellis
Jim Vandermeer
Darryl Boyce
Tomas Holmstrom (doubt he accepts)
Brent Johnson
Brad Winchester
Steve Reinprecht
Kenndal McArdle

Thoughts and/or other suggestions?

Can't see why Reinprecht wouldn't be invited, unless he is holding out for a one-way deal and only a one-way deal, Gillis did sing his praises towards the end of last year.

I imagine we'll see a couple of enforcer-types, but not sure about Winchester as they didn't go for him last year.

No thanks. I'll take Ellis over Huet in the backup role. Even with his injuries last season, he was one of the better back ups the Ducks have had in the past few years.

I'd love to see Hannan invited if not signed. We need depth other than Alberts. Even tho both bring the same type of game, least we'd have another proven NHL Dman for depth.

Is Brule still out there? Another good invite selection.

Could see Reinprecht back as some AHL depth, but we may have too many turned pro prospects.

Hannan, Sawada, Vandemeer, Johnson, Reinprect, and McArdle all have ties to BC or the Canucks. Is that by design?

Sawada's family would be over the moon if he were in Vancouver, if only for a tryout. If he can't land an NHL contract, however, I see Europe as a possibility for him.

Surprised Hannan doesn't have a deal yet. Huet is a distinct possibility; I seem to recall some talk that the Canucks were talking to him in early July. Ditto for Tom Kostopolous and Ivan Baranka. Some possible invites amongst that group.

Hannan and McArdle, yes. Sawada more so for ties with Garrison. Reinprecht had success with the Wolves, and Johnson is one of the few veteran backups still around. Vandermeer is perhaps my favourite of the bunch, and I would not oppose outright signing him.

Hannan and Vandermeer are the only ones I'd be interested in. Did Reinprect only get a 1 year deal from us last time?

Reinprecht came over in the Booth trade.

i could've missed a few signings and such, but i wouldn't mind seeing:

-Patrick O'Sullivan. always liked parts of his game. other parts, not so much. but if he ever grew a defensive game, he could be a useful player. would make for interesting competition to Schroeder. If Schroeder can't beat out POS in camp...no way we can head in to the season with him.

-Kristian Huselius. would assume he'll get an actual deal at some point when he's actually healthy. but if it comes down to a camp invite, i'd be upset if the Canucks didn't offer him one.

-Antero Niitymaki. didn't exactly have the best ride last year. he's getting old and has always had the injury concerns, but there's still some talent in there. would make a great camp invite competitor for Lack. if Lack earns a spot, great. if not, Niitymaki could be an option as backup, and when he inevitably ends up injured...Lack gets his NHL cup 'o coffee.

-Zack Stortini. no interest in him playing for the Canucks ever, but might be amusing to see what happens if you line him up against Oilers preseason goons.

I'd like to see Brent Johnson. He's a big, decent backup that ko'd Dipietro. Seems to get a small injury every year, which is perfect for getting Lack into a few games.

I would expect atleast one goalie to get a PTO, in order to give Läck some competition for the back-up spot, and whoever wins it, gets it.

Stefanovich, Brule and Morrison can all play center, I'd give out some invites to centers, I think.

Barker and Valabik are the only names that pop out of the defencemen FAs and one is a novelty pick.

Controversially, I think goaltending is set. This is certain, if the CBA isn't settled quickly.

Brule, Ellis, Vandermeer, and Hannan are the ones I'm hoping for.

Regardless of whether or not we sign him, I think Arnott should be there. He might be able to teach Schroeder how to be bigger.
