You obviously don't know much about hockey history. In 1967 the year before the expansion which brought, Philly, LA, St-Louis, Minneasota, Oakland and Pittsburgh to the NHL in 1967-68. There was only one conference of six teams. The Hawks were 1st and lost the the 3rd placed Maple Leafs and the Habs were second and they won against the 4th placed Rangers. Then we lost to the Maple Leafs.
And since it's the last cup T.O ever saw, it just proves that they can't win a cup in a league with more than six teams.
