Seems to be popular amongst a few other team's boards. So, here we go.
#5 - We win the SEC
#4 - We finish the season with a .500 or better record at home AND on the road
#3 - We are the highest scoring team in the league
#2 - A weird mixture of our defense being better than it looks on paper, combined with a motivated Cam Ward, relentless offensive pressure and ridiculous amounts of PP time results in this team allowing less than 200 goals next season
#1 - Eight players on the team break the 20 goal mark (Staal, Staal, Ruutu, Jokinen, Skinner, Semin, Tlusty, LaRose)
1 - SEC is the only division with no "losing" teams again this season. Everyone else has someone sub-.500 with the possible exception of the Atlantic (if the Isles are ready for prime time) or the Pacific (if Anaheim rebounds in a big way and Phoenix doesn't fall off)
2 - Hurricanes have a 45+ win season this year (FWIW I think the Caps do too)
3 - Eric outscores Jordan by 20 points this season... and Jordan still has a career high by a good margin getting over 60.
4 - Ward is a finalist for the Vezina.
5 - Mahalak backstops Plymouth to at least an OHL conference final, Alt helps the Golden Gophers take their first NCAA championship in a decade. Both Alt and Biega sign after the season.
You want bold? I'll give you bold!
5.We finish first in the east.
4.Eric Staal scores 100 points again.
3.Skinner scores 50 goals.
2.Ward wins the vezina.
1.We win the cup and semin wins conn smythe.
Well, if we are going to go all wild and crazy in this thread, here are some bold ones (not that I think they'll happen )
5) Justin Peters plays more than 12 games
4) By mid season, Zach Boychuk takes a permanent position on the team in the top 6
3) Chad LaRose doesn't play a single game on the top line.
2) Joni Pitkanen plays more than 75 games.
1) Ryan Murphy makes the team, scores > 50 points and becomes the 3rd straight Kitchener Ranger to win the Calder.

4.Eric Staal scores 100 points again.
3.Skinner scores 50 goals.
2.Ward wins the vezina.

If a single one of these things happen I will be so happy.

I would be the happiest man on the planet if that happened
5. Regular season - Canes win Southeast easily. Jokinen gets 50 assists (but only 7 goals) playing on the top line with EStaal and Semin. The Staal brothers combine for 85 goals and 2 drunk and disorderlies. Rutherford makes many trade offers for Matt Cullen but is repeatedly rebuffed, so he trades for Patrick O'Sullivan instead. Semin takes his $7 million and buys a small island nation, declaring himself emperor and repeatedly referring to the water surrounding it as the "Ocean of Semin."
4. LaRose scores 37 goals, solves the financial crisis, and kicks Chuck Norris' ass in the parking lot after he scores the series-winning goal against the hated Buffalo Sabres in the first round of the playoffs. People still say he sucks.
3. Canes sweep Devils in the second round by a combined score of 44-2. In the second intermission of game 4, Martin Brodeur leaves the arena and files a restraining order against all Hurricanes forwards because, quote: "They were all, like, standing in front of me and stuff."
2. The Canes and Bruins meet in the Eastern Conference finals. Scott Walker shows up and punches a few people, just for old times' sake.
1. The Canes beat the Phoenix Coyotes in a thrilling 7-game Stanley Cup finals. Before the first game of the series starts, new Canadian prime minister Justin Bieber holds a press conference to pre-emptively declare whoever the winner is "The worst champion in National Hockey League history."

5. Ruutu bounces back with 30G 30A
4. Ryan Murphy plays 60+ games for the Canes
3. Jeff Daniels is fired
2. A longtime AHL player (ie Samson, Blanchard, Dodge, etc) finally cements himself in a bottom six role, playing 30+ games for the Canes
1. Ward's SV% will be EXACTLY .923 and whoever our backup is will be under .900
1) LaRose is Hurricanes' third in goals scored.
2) Murphy makes the team and is nominated for Calder.
3) Hurricanes lead the SE for 2/3 of the season but doesn't win the division title.
4) Boychuk has a breakout season in Charlotte by leading the AHL in points but only scores 1 goal in the NHL.
5) Columbus fans celebrate as their team wins the first game of the season. The next time they celebrate is late November when Howson is fired.

1) and 3) are probably mutually exclusive. I see a lot of predictions for 2) but I think he's more likely to be nominated for most concussions in a season. I think 4) is quite likely, though he hasn't really been an AHL scoring clouch.

1. Justin Peters isn't terrible
2. Tuomo Ruutu scores more than 35 points
3. Joe Corvo plays passable defense
4. Tripp Tracy does not paint Joe Corvo's passable defense as Norris-caliber
5. Somebody willingly trades for Anthony Stewart

This is a bold predictions thread, not a hoping for miracles thread.
1) Canes have 3 players average over a PPG - (E Staal, Semin, Skinner)
2) Canes are top 5 in PP% and PK%
3) Canes finish reg season with over 100 pts
4) Chad Larose finishes season with less than 20 points and less than 10 goals
5) Cam has a career low GAA (<2.44) and a career high save % (>.923)
1) Hurricanes win the SE, but all five teams are separated by less than ten points.
2) Reversing the trend of last year, Hurricanes lead the league in shootout wins.
3) Murphy makes the team.
4) Welsh doesn't.
5) Watershed.
1. Staal wins Art and nominated for Hart
2. Ward wins Vezina
3. Faulk breakout-has 40+
4. Semin scores 45
5. Tlusty scores 30
6. Skinner scores 35
7. LaRose, Jokinen, Bowman score 20+
8. Canes lead NHL in scoring.
9. Ward scores a goal...again.
10. Next year Canes have a NHL commercial- Bourque 2.0 with Alfredsson.
Bonus: Semin...not original but...wins Conn Smyth.
1. Hurricanes barely make the playoffs. ( I feel this is bold because a lot of people are a bit too high on us)
2. Welsh turns out to immediately fit in and nets 20 goals, 20 assists.
3. Ryan Murphy can't be denied a spot. Injuries will probably make this a non-issue for most of the season. (60 games played)
4. Kirk Muller forced to separate Staals because of center depth. Jordan Staal plays tough minutes, gets 60 points and Selke nomination, but is not an all star.
5. Eric Staal and Semin are given more protected minutes. Semin is rejuvenated and has a 70 point season. Staal reaches 90 point pace.
edit: Faulk situation will be the most interesting by far, because organization is head-over-heels in love with his potential
