Yet he was third in GAA and fifth in wins?

And forget the fact that he posted a QMJHL-leading .927 in the playoffs.

You realize it's harder to keep a high save percentage in the QMJHL?

http://theqmjhl.ca/stats/show/type/t.../ls_season/168

Zachary Fucale is projected to go top 15 in the 2013 draft
Gibson went 2nd round

and in contrast, Corbeil-Theriault is ****ing TERRIBLE and has .911 because he played for Saint John.

and Clermont's a 6th rounder. It's a fine pick.

Ok not worst pick, what I mean is it was just pointless. Where do people actually see him fitting in in this organization

Surprised to see little love for Graham Black here, IMO he will be the best pick we've made in a long time.

Gavrus is also a great pick, I really love our 2012 draft picks.

Kinkaid could bust, Wedgewood could bust. Clermont could be the next Marty for all anyone knows.

Would you have rather drafted a pointless enforcer in the 6th round?

You're seriously complaining about the Devils taking a goaltender when 2 years ago they had 1 prospect in their entire system? He's 20 years old, how about actually waiting to see how he becomes before making such ridiculous statements.

He definitely wasn't "are" worst pick in years.

Not to mention he was picked in the 6th round. How many 6th rounders become NHLers these days anyway? If he becomes a solid goalie, I'd be ecstatic. If he busts out, then he busts out. I won't be crying over a "wasted" 6th round pick.

I don't get all the love for Black when, as an overager, he only managed 50 points in the WHL. To put it in perspective, Boucher is six months younger than him.

Certainly doesn't warrant a spot in our top ten prospects, at least not yet.

Definitely a guy to watch, though.

He did all that as a rookie in the WHL on a terrible team without any powerplay time. Black also has an extremely solid defensive game along with tremendous skating ability and still has alot of size to add on. Boucher's defensive game also blows.

Thank you. The Boosh has got a long way to go developmentally to make a Devils NHL squad (and even seems a bit discouraged/humbled), whereas Black is tailor made for this system. He is gonna be a productive, useful player at the NHL level -- fo shizzle.

Why didn't he get any powerplay time if it was such a terrible team?

Not a bad prospect, but still has a long way to go before he slots in before certain players in the system.

Give me Boucher all day over Black and most forward prospects in the system. Boucher has a trait that no other prospect in the organization has - a pro shot.

Have to also remember that Boucher is a September '93 birth while Black is a January '93 birth - yet was drafted a year later. Black is a nice pick for the 5th round but does not have the long term upside that a guy like Boucher does. To be honest, Black is an ordinary 19 year old prospect on a bad WHL team.

Boucher has a lot to work on with his game, but has elite qualities in his game. Black does not at this point.

This is a ridiculous statement. Prior to that draft year, we had one goalie prospect in the system, and we were and still are pretty sure he's not the answer in net long term. So we took two well regarded goalies. What exactly is the problem with that?

Sixth round picks are essentially lottery tickets anyway, at that point in the draft, nobody is a sure thing.

Boucher's deficiencies are being overstated to fit a narrative (one that's become too common among offense-first players these days).

He has more offensive upside than any of our forward prospects combined, as far as I care. I don't see how any of our recent forward picks should, without a doubt, be rated higher than him. Sooooooo...

Boucher, add Corrente

Two unpopular opinions in one post? I like.

But no seriously, defence can be taught. Whether he'll be willing to learn, it remains to be seen.

After extensive googling, I can surmise that the only reason Black is being hyped over Ben Johnson is his much cooler name.
