Another Twins prospect gets Tommy John surgery. It's not even surprising at this point.

Another first round pick no less. It seemed like just a matter of time before they would make this announcement.

Deduno pitch 6 inning scoreless 2 hitter. Well done. Although his age (29) is a bit disconcerting he could be a decent 4 or 5 in the rotation.

Watched Wolves Kirilenko and Shved yesterday for Russia. Kirilenko stood out as the best player for Russia and Shved looked commanding in the backcourt. This Wolves team could really be a threat for postseason with Adelman at the helm.

Wild and Wolves both look to have promising next seasons.

Shved might take a year or two to be a regular contributor (especially under Adelman), but he could be a poor man's Ginobli if he can reign in the turnovers. Really excited to see what AK can bring next year, as he's looked like the max- contract, "5X5" AK of 10 years ago so far this week. It feels weird cheering for Russia, but with the Wolves' tandem, they are definitely my #2 team in the Olympics.

Seriously; Minnesota stop with the injuries. It was hilariously tragic but now it's just sad.

On the plus side, Mauer with a down-to-his-last-strike-down-by-one 3 run HR.

Vikings rookie WR Greg Childs tears both patella tendons in his knees at the scrimmage on Saturday night.....he's done for the season if not his career, already.

I was really hoping he got a chance to shine in place of Jerome Simpson's 3-game suspension to start the season.

WHAT!?! I was really looking forward to him. Had a beauty of a catch the other day. Behind the DB's bag/hug catch. Damn. Poor guy.

Why not keep Valencia? He was doing fine since his last call up. Plus, whenever the twins trade for a "prospect" it usually means minor leaguer for life.

Mauer is considered to be one of the most overpaid players and I have to agree.

Another one that didn't fit the 'twins' way because he supposedly had an attitude. It didn't matter if he performed well, he either wasn't going to play much anyways, or on his way out. (i.e. My favorite Twin Delmon Young and Matt Garza)

Also, sucks for Childs. I was excited to see him play. Hopefully he can come back, I know he had knee problems in college.

And he's 27 years old...he's not getting any younger. He wasn't showing any signs of being an everyday ballplayer.

I love people who say he's overpaid, what in God's name did people expect we'd pay him? Pennies on the dollar people? Now certainly my biggest gripe is his lack of power production, that's a fair and deserved criticism, you don't fall out of bed and hit 29 home runs. The lack of power from him since drives me nuts, but you can't argue that now when healthy he's still one of the best pure hitters and an exceptional ball player. Mauer's contract is WAY down on my list of crticism's for the Twins.

Meh, no fans are happier with mediocrity than Twins fans are.

The Twins flaws were exposed severely over the last decade, but fans loved them and didn't want them to make any changes at manager or with the star players etc. Now what little supporting cast there was has long since dried up, the manager still can't manage his way out of a paper bag... and all we hear is how Joe Mauer's salary is handcuffing the team.

Twins Management has been hand cuffing the team since the Twins came into existence. They did manage to win a couple world series titles in spite of it thanks to the likes of Puckett, Herbek, Tom Kelly (he was a manager!), etc though.

The issue starts at top; and Mauer is the franchise player. Figure out what you're going to do with him and then go from there. (He has another few good years if his body holds up)

The problem isn't Mauer.... the problem is management. The team could find ways to win both with and without Mauer. If the Salary is limiting, it's only because the team is already going back on it's word about re-investing more money into the team itself once they got a stadium.

Never happened did it... yet ticket prices are already rising. Go figure.
