No surprise for #12. The "other" Hayes follows his brother.

Jimmy Hayes

#1: Brandon Saad, LW (81.82%)
#2: Teuvo Teravainen, LW/C (59.62%)
#3: Mark McNeill, C (48.00%)
#4: Jeremy Morin, LW (36.84%)
#5: Dylan Olsen, D (40.74%)
#6: Phillip Danault, C (44.12%)
#7: Brandon Pirri, C (41.86%)
#8: Kyle Beach, LW (30.19%)
#9: Adam Clendening, D (43.75%)
#10: Stephen Johns, D (27.78%)
#11: Kevin Hayes, RW (50.00%)
#12: Jimmy Hayes, RW (55.17%)

Two days to vote as we start getting into players with single digit percentage chances to ever be NHL regulars.

This is the point where it gets hard to determine. Nordstrom and Shalunov could turn out to be awesome, but I went with Whitney. Was between him and Holl.

I went with Justin Holl.

I love his combination of skating and smarts. Every year I've seen him since he was drafted he's taken another leap forward in his development from what was previously an area of weakness. He's now bring counted on as one of Minnesota's most reliable defensemen in any situation, and given what he's already shown, I'm excited to see how he'll do there in his junior year.

Next prospect to add: Nick Mattson

I went with Ben Smith...Whitney would have been my 2nd choice. This one is wide open for sure.

At this point you have to go with Smith IMO. Whitney is next.

Our 2nd round pick in 2012 is going to be our 13-15th best prospect, more than likely. I think that says a lot about our depth in our pool in itself. If even 1/3 of these guys make an impact in the NHL we have a very bright future ahead of us.

Went with Dahlbeck

Seems to have safe potential for NHL career and upside

Michael Paliotta needs to be added. Should be on here already as he looks like a better prospect than Holl(from someone who actually watches them). I don't understand why he is so underrated from Hawks' fans. No one talks about him but they talk about the guy who was picked AFTER Paliotta in Dahlbeck.

Yet, Paliotta looks like he could even make the US WJC team this year. He isn't a lock, but IMO he has a good chance and is at the summer evaluation camp.

Anyways, for this poll I pick Chris Calnan. Great combination of size, speed, skill and power. He is a project, like Kevin Hayes but I think he'll be a good one. Wasn't a fan of the Fournier pick but hopefully he proves me wrong. I think I'd put him at 15 or 16. Justin Holl never really impresses me and I've seen him play 8 or 9 times at Minnesota. I do think he has potential, but he really isn't great offensively or defensively. He does have decent size and a solid skater as well. Still, for a 2nd round pick I am disappointed in his development. Hopefully he makes big improvements this year. Just think, his teammate Mark Alt was taken right before Holl in the draft and he is just so much better....like way better now and more potential. Not to mention Zucker, Larsson, Reinhart, Kabanov picked after but I like to forget that 2010 draft. We had two 1sts and three 2nd rounders...not looking good for that many top 60 picks. All really depends on the HAyes brothers on how that draft turns out. The Johns pick was great though IMO. Every other pick was lacking.

I like that you go at people who pick a guy that was drafted behind an other guy but do it yourself... with Calnan over Fournier

I have no problems with anyone taking Dahlbeck or even Shalunov over Paliotta even though they were drafted after him.

I just find it strange that I really never see him talked about. He isn't even listed right now and he was drafted ahead of Shalunov, Dahlbeck, Calnan, Smith, Nordstrom...well basically everyone except Holl, Simpson, Fournier and 2 picks behind Shawn Lalonde. He gets no respect or talk about him though. Paliotta had a decent season on a trainwreck of a team in a tough conference(Hockey East). I watched him play the National Champion, Boston College and good teams like Boston University... his team gets dominated but he is a good defenseman. And only a freshman. He is also a big guy so it isn't like he is a small NCAA guy...he is 6'3.

I just don't get why he gets no talk from Hawks' fans and he flies under the radar so much. Easily most underrated prospect no question. Nick Mattson is another one.

The fact that Dahlbeck gets talked about more likely has to do with him playing in the SEL, added with the fact that he'll be joining Rockford this season. He's a guy that could push for a roster spot in 2013-14, if not sooner.

Yeah, Dahlbeck is also 2 years older though. He is a '91 and Paliotta is a '93. I have a feeling that people will start to give a **** about him once he is in the running to make the US WJC team this year. Hopefully he has a big year at Vermont this year as well.

If Johns doesnt sign, development of Paliotta and Holl for RD with size becomes huge.

I can't believe we're at #13 and we still have quite a few intriguing prospects. I went with Fournier strictly based on taking him is the 2nd round this past year, but that's really all I have to go on, I like what is said about his upside. I also would go with Calnan, Paliotta, or Holl here. They are all similar level prospects IMO, just have to see what the new batch does...
