it also remains to be seen how/if crosby's game will be changed from the concussion, in terms of style of play. we didnt get to see him for a very long stretch of games last year.

141 points this past season would roughly equate to Lemieux's 199 point season.
The Pens scored 267 goals during the 06-07 season. This past season the Pens scored 273 goals (led league) despite Crosby only playing 22 games. So if Crosby gets 120 points when the Pens scored 267 goals, how many does he get when the team posts over 300 next season?

this was Norris Trophy's only move on the PP. Couldn't play defense & marginal on offense. Other teams started taking away the backdoor play as time went along...

I don't see why not. He put up 120 in his 2nd season in a more defense-oriented system than the team we're seeing today and without the tools he has now. I'm not going to say he'll put up 150, but I'm not going to say it's out of the question. I think 130 is realistic so long as he's healthy, especially if/when Shero gets him a winger.

This is a question that doesn't have a concrete answer because one can be acquired in many different ways, and the costs associated would be different.

Sid's first game back vs. Isles is being shown on NHLN right now. (at least in this area) Later tonight, Geno's big game vs. TB.

And it almost certainly will be altered somewhat. But it might not be in a negative way.

Patrice Bergeron made adjustments to keep himself from vulnerable situations by doing less swooping and more stops and starts, and he improved his strength and balance to keep himself from being propelled into the boards in one-on-one battles. He's a better player for it.

I do. He brings everything I think we need, and he makes 3 million per year. Not sure what it'd take to get him, or even if he's available.

Dying to see what Sid can do now that he's back at 100% and has had an entire (extended) summer to bust his ass and improve himself. Add to that all the people nay-saying his ability to return to the top, and I think we're in for a scary good season. I'm extremely excited for October.

The biggest difference between 06-07 and now is that we have multiple lines that can score. If we put up 300 goals I'd expect Sid to probably have 110-120 points. Maybe 130 if our powerplay really clicks. Sid is not going to factor in to half of the team's goals though. 150 points just isn't happening without the team scoring like 350 goals. That would be him factoring in on 43% of our goals.

I'm almost imagining a bizarro-world nightmare scenario where somehow Tangradi manages to get himself on pace for 20G on Sid's line, and then is shipped out at the deadline for a stay-at-home D.

It'd take a hell of a hockey trade to pry him out of there. They have every reason to go with their roster as of now and see how things play out. We can hope a couple of their prospects step up and Seto can be moved in a trade to get them help on the backend for a playoff push.

I hope Shero keeps an eye on Clutterbuck's future there. His importance on that team is likely to decline in the next year.

I believe he had points in over half of the Pens' goals before he got a concussion in the Winter Classic.

that pace is not going to be easy to maintain and I still don't know that we'll score 300 goals. I obviously hope we do and Sid blows everyone away. I just don't see how anyone can expect it. 150 points with the current scoring would be one of the best seasons by any player ever.

If Crosby plays ~80 games, 130 points isn't out of the question. He has basically played at that pace since late 2009.

I'm as excited to see how Sid does as anyone ... but 150 points? That brings to mind Jags6868's posts when his idol returned ...

I don't think we will get 300 goals especially after losing Staal but Crosby should be able to score about 130.

Honestly, I think Sid's best goal scoring days have already come and gone.

His playmaking ability looks to be on a completely different planet.

I could see him hitting 35 goals, but in all honesty, I can see him having more than double the assists. At his pace last season, he was on pace for over 100 assists.

It's not crazy to think he can hit that.
