Bought the THN guide yesterday (Montreal) and was definitely not impressed by it (not that I was expecting anything great).. Still, it was the first guide out and I couldn't wait to get back in my hockey pool mode.
btw for those interested, the ULTIMATE POOL PREVIEW will be back again this season.
You can check out the website www.ultimatepoolpreview.com for more infos as I will update it in the near future.
usually I do one of these threads every year. You beat me to it so go ahead. I believe Dobber usually comes out around August 1, does anyone else have an update on that?
Also, disclaimer for many, sometimes the magazines (specifically Forecaster) gets delayed up to a month for the Western provinces in Canada. So be patient!
Bought the THN one today. Not very good, like its been the past few years, but its always nice to see it on newstand. Sign that the season is coming up.
Hockey News Pool guide is pure junk. I never really thought so until last season when I just didn't agree with anything. And for a fairly larger magazine, there's a lot of useless features and not enough concrete analysis. But like the rest of you, I always grab it and love the feeling of seeing it for the first time, means it's time to start looking forward to the season and pools.
Really sucks that it doesn't come with my Hockey News subscription...
Dobber-OUT TODAY
THN-OUT NOW in the East and online
FORECASTER-usually out Aug.15 in the East, two weeks later in the West
POOLERS GUIDE-Aug.14 in the East, two weeks later in the West
MCKEENS-September
Obviously if you have your own guide then feel free to add to this list. I know of lots of other ones that have very good content.
I just picked up THN in the GTA. I don't see a huge problem with it. Seems to be similar layout as most years. BOLD predictions for rookies and SAFE predictions for everyone else. I also recieved a response from The Forecaster on twitter and their pegging an August 20th release.
Ill update the OP with a summary of all magazines.

On Facebook, Forecaster sounded basically the same. Didn't say an exact date, but they said in a couple of weeks.
I want my Hockey News Yearbook to come in the mail really soon and I want to see the Forecaster drop on news-stands. Those are definitely my go to guides and have been for over 5 straight years.
Has anyone been able to find THN ultimate pool guide on the west coast (Victoria or Vancouver)? If so, where was it?
Note to the West coast/Prairies: Usually it's a two week wait past the release date for our mags. So, THN should arrive here today I think (because Tuesday is when many stores get their mags) but it might not be on the shelves until Friday.
It also means Forecaster on Aug.20 will probably be delayed two weeks, as will Poolers Guide as they usually ship together.
