Rugby - #4, but that's automatic when you play 2nd row / Lock forward.
I only played rugby in college, but I realized after reading your post, that we did not have #'s on our jerseys. But I was a Prop.

Funny thread...

But I like it. I had lots and lots of different numbers in my athletic career. The numbers I wanted though...

7, 17, 27

#17 was the number I had the most. Those numbers were what I wore in just about everything other than football. Considering where I played my options were limited from the numbers #50 to #79.

The strangest number I ever had to wear was #85 in soccer. The numbers started at #80 for some reason one year.

For hockey, I've always been #28.

For basketball and baseball, I always wore 24 and 4. So when I started playing hockey @ 18 for my Jr. Gold team, neither was available, so I just added them up. Been 28 most of the time since.... my last season of Wild adult league, I wore 19.

#19 has been my number whenever I could get it, in any sport. Backups are 1 and 88.

I was generally #2 or #19 for Brian Leetch and Joe Sakic, basically my favorite players of all time. For me though it would be #80 for YOB. Nice clean looking number as well.

I find it interesting how personal a number can be. I've only run in to one other guy whose jersey number was 86 and we were both in shock, mostly because we thought we were the only ones. It's great too because usually there's some sort of story behind most numbers. Just another awesome thing about sports and athletics in general.

Forgot, I wore #88 in football. Had to choose a number in the 80's because of positions.

When I used 63 and 31 it was because I didn't associate them with anyone else. Wanted to make them my own. Plus I thought they looked cool. Only in the past couple years have some NHLers started wearing 63. I get a little territorial.. Ha.

I would go with 41 since I like the number and I kind of miss Skoula and his facial expressions.

Always wore #33.

Big Lemieux fan growing up as well as Roy fan. And I played goalie for a few seasons, so #33 it was. Oddlly, it was more of a tribute to Lemieux than Roy, but I didn't feel worthy of the #66

in peewee football it was always 85, then one year is was 88, and highschool prep through highschool it was 78. 78 was the number I had when our team went with one loss and won for prep, so I kept it. 78 is my number and I love it is ALWAYS available for anything too.

In hockey I always wanted a single digit number. When I first started I was a #7, then I was #2 for a bit. My last two years I ended up with #4 and #5.

Football I was #74, although that one is a little position dependent.

The first ever jersey I got when I started playing hockey from RAHA (Rosemount) was #10. From there I was given a bunch of random numbers but I used to always get 9, 10, 7, or 17. For awhile I was 21 and 29, but then when I moved to Oklahoma I was 10 in high school and 10, 4, and 67 in travel hockey. In Juniors I was 14 and then 10, in College I was 10, and now in adult league I'm 10.

I've stuck with 10 since my last yr of Juniors more for the reason that it was my first ever # and that Gaborik, P. Bure and Gaetan Duchense are all some of my favorite players ever (Gaborik being my favorite) I think I'll stick with 10 for the rest of my hockey playing days.

First #42, then #77, nowadays it's either #77 or if not available, #27 (in honor of Gilles Villeneuve)

I used to wear #26 as a tribute to Jere Lehtinen when I played hockey. Now I wear #2 in floorball, I think its a pretty good number for a Defensive D who doesn't really know how to be effective offensively.

#13 was my jersey number of choice, screw superstition. Odd thing looking back regardless of sport I played my number was always a prime number. Wasn't anything I was conscious of until after I was done playing.

I never cared for numbers. I was just glad to play. Was usually #1, though.
