How is this still even a debate? We have a clear rubric here. Look at how effective Callahan was in NYR's run to the ECF, and then look at Brown's role in LA's Cup winning run.
If you still have a question as to which player you take right now, you need to be committed.
Edit: Also, a hearty LOL @ "Callahan is better defensively" despite his totally awesome -8 on a team that finished +39 in GD.

I'll put it like this. Brown's production on offense is falling, while Callahan is just reaching his peak, and would have outscored him the past 2 years if not for injury.
Defensively I'll take the guy that has been the best winger for the past 2 years, and will continue to be so.
That's hilarious. Brown's production is falling? He's had five consecutive seasons of 50+ points, his scoring has kept pace. Meanwhile Callahan has had only one 50+ point season in his career and he just cracked that mark this past season. It also helps that Brown scored double the amount of points as Callahan during the playoffs, and they both appeared in 20 playoff games. Brown's offense declining?

Exhibit A as to how hockey doesn't matter on ESPN:
Last night an ESPN program was discussing how the Detroit Pistons needed a hero citing the heroes on the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions and no mention of the Detroit Red Wings. All this despite the Red Wings probably being the most succesful team in Detroit right now.

LOL @ you for thinking +/- is fully relevant.
And you do know Callahan played injured throughout the whole playoffs, right?
Past two seasons Callahan has a .75 PPG
Borwn is at .68
Even if you want to count the playoffs where Brown was part of cup winner while Callahan was playing with a rookie and sophomore
Callahan: .72
Brown: .71
So Callahan has been on pace with Brown's scoring for one season, and it just happened to be the season that everyone on the Kings roster had a down year offensively. You see why your argument is flawed, don't you?
I also like how Brown was just "part of a Cup winner". If Quick hadn't put up godly numbers, Brown very well could have gotten the Conn Smythe.

It's 2 years, and Brown didn't have a down year, he was at his career average
Bipolar (disorder) = mental condition/opinion/attitude can change at any minute.
Personally I like Callahan more, unless Brown can play like this for at least a good portion of the regular season/playoffs and I doubt he can. Normally he is never this good (like in the Cup run).

the concept of small sample size is really lost on you.

Nope. You Rangers fans can't have it both ways. You can't argue for months over on the trade boards that Derek Stepan and Kreider are better than Rick Nash then say they're anchors screwing up Callahan's chi in the poll section.
Brown. More physical, more skilled. But it's close.

But the above is not a reason. One great playoff run doesn't make you an elite player. Otherwise Krejci > Richards because Krejci was amazing in Boston's run to the cup. What they've done over their career and in the past couple years matters.
And Callahan is pretty good defensively, regardless of his +/-.
If Callahan repeats last year and Brown doesn't get better than this past regular season, the answer will change.

No one said that (if they did, they're retarded). However they are more valuable as they likely will be better, and are younger and cheaper
ONLY on hfboards...
Neither of these guys are kids.
There is no way in half a season it changes this much.
From a longer than I'd care to admit eyeballing of the first poll: not many people voted in the first one and very few voted in both, with fewer still changing their vote. So I don't think it's completely a what have you done for me lately scenario.
Anyways the two are very similar. Brown's health and consistency is very impressive. He has only missed 10 games since the lockout and has established him self as a lock for 20+ goals and 50+ points, with some very impressive playoff and international play.
I think Brown has been a better offensive player and a much louder defensive one, in the sense that he throws hits with a more impressive quantity and quality.
While Callahan, has been at the same offensive level the past two seasons and is probably the better defensive forward. He does all the little things right on D.
It's a toss up and in a sense comes down to which intangibles you'd rather: The physicality and the tip toeing of the line or the savvy defending and craziness to throw yourself in front of any shot? Though I think they both share all four of those qualities to different degrees
Basically they are even with the swing vote going to Brown's playoffs:
I'll take the guy who can obliterate Sedin with a massive & clean body check and then manage to get under the skin of the entire Coyotes team while going on to lead the playoffs in goals, assists, +/-, GWG, SHG and Hits
