Offer sheet for Michael del Zotto - is It a possibility?

Was wondering what we would do if someone, say Detroit or Edmonton, offersheated MDZ ( in wake of a contract still not being signed) say 3,9 million for 3 years? Our compensation (say it is Detroit ) would be A mere 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounder. Is that enough? Would we match? Would this not get us in a bit of cap trouble if we did so? Is this realistic to fear?
Or , God forbid, Holmgren pulls this?

I'm sure we'd match anything less than 4,5M. I don't really think it's a realistic scenario, tho. I really don't see any GM offer sheeting one of our guys.

I think that the Rangers match any offer up to the point of getting alot of first round picks.

The Wings don't have what I would want in terms of assets instead of compensation.

Other teams could be dangerous in terms of an offer-sheet.

I suppose it is always a possibility, but unlikely. However the Oilers have way too many young top notch players to consider offer sheeting anyone.

I don't know what the point would be. If you offered something reasonable the rangers would match and if you offered something absurd so they wouldnt match the price would be too high.

Possible, but unlikely. I could realistically see the Rangers matching anything up until the compensation is four first round picks.

Speaking of DZ, has their been any news regarding his contract talk? I was away on vacation for the last week and didn't have internet access.

He doesn't have any arbitration rights so I'm sure we'll get him for a fair price as long as he doesn't sign any offer sheets.

EDIT- Damn auto correct.

Also depends on MDZ.
He needs to accept the offersheet.

Only real threat is Philly. Rangers match anything they put out there shy of 4 1sts.

Doubt it. Rangers have financials means to match any $$ offered both short and long term, and have cap space to fit the amount that MDZ could be offered on FA market even if he was a "known" commodity. By known I mean someone who didn't have his sophomore slump or underwhelming series against Devils.

I don't see MDZ as the calibur of player teams are willing to make a move as risky as an offer-sheet for.

Why would teams Offersheet Del Zotto when Carlson and Subban are unsigned?

That's what I'm thinking. Like we don't hate them enough as it is.

I can't see Del Zotto trying to leave NY now, so no an offer sheet isn't realistic. Besides, Sather would probably be willing to match any offer.

That's the thing. Short of a CRAZY overpayment, I doubt DZ would want to leave NYR now after getting so far last year and then adding Nash. He's always seemed like he was especially tight with the guys.

I wouldn't want Subban on my team. He's too undisciplined. I think canadien fans treat him more as an exotic pet than a star player.

Exactly right! I doubt if any team would offer sheet Del Zotto especially after the marvelous playoff series he had against the Devils.
He gets to sink or swim with us which is fine by me.

Now that the Flyers have lost Mezaros indefinitely, I'm just a tiny bit worried that they could offer sheet Del Zotto. They're the only team I'd be worried about.
