Ha ha. This is turning into another Parise and Suter debacle.

Now all we care about is him picking a damn team so that we can move on.

It definitely won't be the Sharks. Unless Doan is in love with us, he won't accept a deal with us 'cause DW won't offer a crazy deal like other swould.

PollakOnSharks 12:55pm via Web Well-placed source advises that as soon as it was clear Doan deal would go beyond 3 years, #sjsharks bowed out of bidding. #nowaysanjose

I hope all those people who were opening pre-berating Doug Wilson stick their heads up and perform a climb down now. See? He may not be perfect but he's better than a whole bunch of other GMs and sticks to his principles...

This is feeling a lot like last year where the Sharks 'just' needed to get a good 3rd liner to be set but could not manage to do it until the deadline.

This year we need to get Faster in our top-6, still need a 3rd liner (or two) and are likely missing a piece on the 4th line. The only place they are really 'set' is on defense.

It seems like the Sharks are again going to be forced to enter the season making excuses about how they are comfortable with their roster even though behind the scenes they are fully aware of they are completely uncomfortable with that roster.

Sharks Out of Bidding for Shane Doan

Doan reportedly wants more than three years on his deal, and the Sharks are bowing out. #nothankyou

How long do we have to court this guy before he gives in??? For crying out loud, a nun would have opened the flood gates by now...

I really do think that DW would be pushing his luck with ownership he does this again. I am finding hard to believe he goes into the season with the team as it is right now. My guess is that he has some potential trades in place but is holding out for a better deal.

Good for DW. I'm quite happy that he's set that type of limit.

Just don't think about it, man. Otherwise, you'll remember how much you aged yourself.

Maybe there is a deal or two already done and DW & other party, parties, are waiting till CBA stuff is done.

It makes some sense, our most tradeable players are on 1 year deals, if there is a lockout and we trade them for someone on a multi-year deal we basically completely hosed the other team.

So we dont get Doan..

We know rolling the current bottom 6 wont get us a Cup. DW knows this team needs wingers and he will pull the trigger, maybe next week, maybe Jan1.Point is its a 3/4 line issue as we speak and not something that HAS TO BE addressed now. Top 6 wins us games while the bottom 6 finds some chemistry.Wilson will come thru before all is said and done and make a move. He will bide his time and pounce when it favors him(philly losing Mez,DMurray now in play?).

My concern is more with Clowe this year..Contract year..Does he "try" too hard to put up points. The ol "gripping the stick" syndrome. Would have liked to seen him and Murray packaged for some help on the wings.Someone will overpay(4-5mil) for his services come next summer and unless he signs a new cheaper deal in the next 6 months will be gone for a song and dance.DW has to trade Clowe, it pains me but only makes sense in the big picture.

Kinda glad to hear it if he's not gonna sign with us for 3 years at around $4.5 per season. But if this is the case, then what do we do now? We still need help in our bottom 6 and arguably our top 6 too. I know DW usually comes through in the off season but what kind of tricks could he possibly have up his sleeve now?

Also I really just hope that he doesn't sign with the Canucks if we don't get him.
