Man arrested with gun, ammunition and knives in an Ohio movie theater for a 10pm showing of TDKR.

I really hate how the media glorifies these psycho's, all it does is make all the other ones eager to get their name out there. I seriously hope Holmes gets the death penalty, only way to permanently rid ourselves of these people.

And thank you again Roger for allowing our great Brit hope Andy Murray to win the Olympic tennis gold, it was a very nice gesture on your part. You will receive your children's scholarships to Oxford once they turn 18, your Aston Martin shortly and your Swiss bank account will be credited.

Many thanks old chap!

Anyone else getting sick and tired of the CTV specials on Missy Franklin?

I get it - she holds dual citizenship because her parents are from Canada and she occasionally visits Nova Scotia. But she's not Canadian in the slightest. She was born, raised and trained in the US and never even considered representing any other country.

It's like CTV is running short on Canadian Olympic storylines, so they're focusing on her because she's almost Canadian.

I was complaining about that the other day.

Anyone who has the slightest Canadian heritage is deemed a Canadian by CTV and therefore all the medals they win are ours.

But I guess that's what happens when we are having our worst Olympics in 20 years

On top of that, the US Olympic Committee pays $25K for a gold. The Canadian OC pays $20K. So only $5K but then USA Swimming pays them $75K for the gold, so now you're looking at $100K versus $20K.

Two caveats:
1. not sure if Swim Canada pays any extra but I don't believe so.
2. I believe there are significant tax differences in terms of receiving those payments - fully taxable in Canada but differential status south of the border.

So on economics alone she made the right choice. That's a significant chunk of change at that point in life.

FIFA is threatining to suspend the Players who complained about the reffing.

I would honestly not want to play for the Bronze if bad reffing means so much to them.

I think it's cool that Marty Huggins wants to do something about Daylight Savings Time because he hates when it gets dark early. Classic.

I heard that.. FIFA hates anyone being critical of their refs or rules/regulations, so I'm not surprised by this. I hope the Canadians stand their ground though. FIFA was put under heavy pressure after a few recent incidents where good goals weren't allowed, and bad goals were allowed, so they put refs on the goal line. Are their any goal line refs for the Olympics? I don't remember seeing any now that I think about it.

Just heard on NPR the other day that the awards are fully taxable down here and that medal winners are frequently surprised when they jump several tax brackets. Story also mentioned that UK athletes get an exemption for their awards and that some politician here (Galifianakis?) is trying to introduce legislation for a similar exemption.

Not sure if real politician or Zack's name is stuck in your head from the many posts on this page.

OK, Americans are notoriously checked out of our own political processes sometimes, but do you think I can actually spell Galifianakis without going back in the thread and checking? That one is tougher than your average Eastern Euro hockey player's name! It was just a joke because I couldn't remember who was trying to introduce the new legislation!

we just did our season ticket draft and I got first pick again, first game I took was New Years Eve( wife's b-day), then home opener, NYR,CBJ,BUF, OTT FLA, and EDM pre-season, pretty happy with the games I got, mostly Saturday afternoon games for the wife, might even get my 5 year old to her first game. Let's get this CBA BS over with
