Not really bothered that he isn't as good to be honest, hopefully it can turn him from an above average player into a good one. More depth is what we need, no more two line hockey at WJC's.

The only player who Coventry have who is close to your description is Benn Olson, who will definitely be able to contribute a shift on the backend, especially on the penalty kill.

It's not like they are signing the likes of Penner, Kaczowka etc.

EPIHL and NIHL fixtures have been released and are on the EIHA website though it is a little hard to navigate and find what you're looking for.

Here are Chelmsford Chieftains fixtures for Shrimper, click on the team you want then scroll down past last season's results for this season's fixtures.

No weekend should be "easy" in the EPL now, it's more competitive than it's ever been, same for both NIHL1 and 2 south.

Couple of thoughts here.
I see Panthers have signed the much traveled David Ling at 37 years of age. Former NHLer and KHLer most recently playing in Italy.
Question though I see Silverblades Ice Rinks have announced new rinks in Leeds and Widnes to go along with existing rinks in Altrincham, Cannock and Gillingham. Is Silverblades a growing force in ice rinks?
I see Manchester have announced more than 400 STH. Not bad for a team that averages a 1,000 per game.

Further to Silver Blades Ice Rinks.
Both Leeds and Widnes are hinting at pro hockey. With seating being at 1,000 for both rinks I would imagine hopes are in NIHL?
Manchester Phoenix, Trafford Metros and Invicta Dynamo already play in Silver Blades rinks

Nice to see new rinks

Okay it's a site that covers Atlantic Canada hockey.
But still some news about EIHL signings something you rarely see on this side of the pond

Following recent twitter activity, it appears the EIHL will be introducing a new social media policy for the players

Two rules for EIHL because of Mike Danton:
1. No tweeting on game days.
2. No plotting to kill your agents.

From what Dave Simms has said it sounds like #1 isn't far off the mark I have heard no tweeting 2 hours before or after games

And for #2 some people think it was his dad

Mike Danton never came up with the dad target junk till well after his trial it was just a pathetic attempt at a cover up.

i'm curious as to how this first season with the new format for the EIHL is going to play out.

I never really looked at the business part of british hockey before this. I do think it's pretty much boom or bust though.

And on a sidenote I had to steal the Team GB avatar idea from 99 Problems

I had the feeling that this new league system was either to try and build up the EIHL one last time and/or let the "Southern" conference teams get used to a smaller league; if the EIHL did crumble start up some newer 5/6 team ISL type league.

Liking the look of Swindon's 4th import, don't get to see many Finns in the EPL

http://eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=22753

Also can't resist a dig at THF posters: someone said "Undecided on this one.....stats not all that good" plus there are still people on there moaning about Okanagan someone described it as "16k for a few extra training sessions"

Dundee fans are gonna like Rio.
I can still hear the cheers RIO-RIO-RIO.
Only 2 years removed from Major Jr....good signing by Dundee

Vid of Rio and the Cats winning the 2010 Q President Cup at home in front of a packed 7,000 at the ole Coliseum.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DHJX-...eature=related

Gotta add.
Manchester signs a guy a Dman from Czech Rep with NHL time.
How can an EPL team afford that?

As much as the Manc fans dismiss it, they do actually have some cash and whilst their attendances compared to EIHL are lower, they have a very faithful fanbase who consistently help drive the money into the club. Suffice to say they can afford the one or two like him, but they cant afford the 9/10 that it takes to build a decent EIHL team.

But it is the honour of playing with the great Tony Hand that attracts their players
