Good news everyone!

I love Lupul, showed great character at the all-star game.

Hopefully he continues his success here!

Lupul had a career year last season and will need to put a similar season together this upcoming year to prevent the 1st line scoring from not falling off.

A healthy Lupul will go a long way to accomplishing that.

Don't be shocked to see the #s dip some from the big 2 under Carls system.

A switch from a run and gun to a more conservative defense awareness system that requires more backchecking and less offensive zone time play will put a strain on offensive totals.

However in Lupul's case he put up 25-42-67 points in 66 games and missed 16 games to injury.. Technically he could match those numbers over 82 games and still match last seasons numbers only in more games played. So his injury gives him a bit of an advantage with the 16 game additional cushion to repeat those figures, as a result of a more conservative system.

That will be countered by having better puck movers than Luke Schenn on the ice.

Ps Just kidding

I admit along with other people, that Lupul is a candidate to be moved at trade deadline if things dont go well.

What half?

Do you mean the 28 games he played with the Leafs after the trade in 2010-2011?

The 28 games where he had 9 goals and 9 assists zeking (projecting) to 26 goals and 26 assists for 52 points?

Mind you I like Lupul.

But he essentially was a cap dump in the Beauchemin trade.

I believe he will have a very good year (health willing, but then you can say that about everyone), because of the great chemistry he seems to have with Kessel.

Don't forget that Carlyle hates Lupul, at least according to HFDucks.

Glad to hear the news though. Really loved him last year.

Don't see why he can't use that sample. He's been great for us ever since pulling on the Leafs sweater:

Lupul's PPG per team:

Anaheim: 87 pts in 156 gms (0.56ppg)
Edmonton: 28 pts in 81 gms (0.35ppg)
Philadelphia: 96 pts in 135 gms (0.71ppg)
Anaheim (v.2): 27 pts in 49 gms* (0.55ppg)
Toronto: 86 pts in 94 gms (0.91ppg)

* - Two injury-plagued seasons

No reason to believe he isn't just entering his prime and couldn't be a prime contributor for the next 3-5 years, IMO.

His numbers under coach Carlyle is around .55 PPG .. Do you thing the coaching change and more conservative system might effect his Toronto numbers going forward?

Lupul is a UFA at seasons end on an expiring contract, that is one reason to believe he might not be a prime contributor for the next 3-5 years.

I don't think Carlyle is going to "Boudreau" Lupul's stats significantly, if at all. Loops will likely see increased ice time and opportunity than what he was receiving on the Ducks, when he put up those stats under Carlyle. Plus, he's never shown better chemistry with a player than Kessel (who didn't seem to cool down under Carlyle with 14 pts in 17 games whilst battling a wrist injury).

I think the predictions of statistical demise under Carlyle are being greatly exaggerated.

Lupul will put up 70 points if he plays a full season, and Burke will sign him to a 5 year contract.

I love Lupes.

He was also mainly playing 2nd line minutes.

He had a great pace in his time with Philly as well.

I fully expect him to be able to hit 60-65 points over 80 games which is very respectable for a 1st line winger. He has the skill to do it and it's not like he went from a 30-40 point player to a ppg player, he's been on a 60+ point pace in a few seasons before.

Lupul is a key piece to this team. No chance he gets moved at the deadline.

If worst comes to worst he can be our 2nd line LW. He's a phenomenal player.

He's excited to be "slotted" in between Phil and Loops, because he realizes the skill level of those two and the potential for both of them to put up big numbers next season.

I am not selling Bozak short either, as he's been feverishly working out this off-season to ensure he's got a place on this team next year.
Excellent news! I am glad to hear this and hope things turn up really. Hopefully he is getting tips from other friends or teammates regarding the center role tendency.

Wonder if Dion reached out to him like he has done so previously.
