Was a resident in medical school but might surprise some as I quit not too long ago. I will now be pursuing accounting at HEC.
Holy crap. I wish I had your courage. Wanted to pursue MBA at HEC.

Right now, I work a decent but boring job with co-workers that I grit my teeth over.
This is me.

I'm gonna assume a bit less, maybe 12-14 starting (basing this off of experience). If you want a well-paying job with minimal responsibilities apply at the MUHC hospitals (or any hospital - unions!). If you get in you're essentially set, and depending on what you get you can get as many hours as you want and it's starting at like 16-18 an hour+benefits.
I recently quit my job and left school (seriously, Concordia is the worst school in the world). Going to travel for a bit now and pursue my only passion in life, writing.
In my spare time I write jokes for comedians, and just generally write comedy. Not the biggest fan of doing standup myself but my best friend does it semi-professionally (because MTL sucks for English comedians) and he's probably one of the top comedians in town and I write jokes with/for him all the time.
Wow... nice man, really appreciate the post.
Why do you find Concordia the worst school? I was thinking of going, PERHAPS.... give me the dirt. =]
What were you studying? what year were you in of school? How long did u have left?
The comedy thing is really cool.. I would LOVE to do that... I'm guessing it's rough to pay the bills solely doing that though unless you luck out and get a nice gig.

I'd rather not give away too many details but it was just not for me personally - none of it.
Concordia is as good as you want to make it but there are a lot of idiots in the halls, in the rooms, in the administration - it's a mid-tier school and they act like it. There are geniuses, amazing teachers and passionate educators but there are also the bad ones who just want to get in and out. Makes for an impersonal and weak atmosphere if you ask me.
If you put your head down and get your work done, and then get the extra work done and come to every class and every tutorial and so on you're already ahead of 90% of the folks there and already going to get at least a B. A friend of mine was a terrible student in HS and Cegep and now he's kicking ass in University because he needed the freedom to realize his passion (engineering) and the work ethic came naturally. He has 5 summer courses while the rest of us get drunk every night and he still has a smile on his face because he loves it.
Comedy doesn't pay at all - at all. There are comedians in montreal who'd kill someone for 20$. I do it for fun, because I like it.
But seriously, apply at the hospitals - all of you.
I'm all over the f-in' shop. Chem major, physics and geography minors, but taught English (and coached a bunch of sports) in Japan for 6 years, and now manage my best friend's bike shop and do 3rd party international shipping inspections on the side for a fairly big Swiss company. Yeah, focus has never been my strong suit. Attention to detail, however...
Welfare here, I also pick up empty bottles when I wander senselessly around montreal, so that I can pay my internet bill to come post some stuff on this forum.
One of my classmates last term used to be the front man for a reasonably successful metal band.
Don't remember what his band was called but he showed pictures of him performing at festivals in front of more than 10.000 people, told lots of stories about his tours in the US and that at least one of their albums had charted on the Billboard albums chart.
You really run into some interesting people at adult education classes sometimes.
Work in pool and arena maintenance. But I'm going to the École Nationale de l'Humour this september. To be a TV writter.
TV writer...bonne chance and good luck!
Juste une question svp...just one question please...:
is there an english version of this kind of school in Montreal?

Founded my own IT business nearly 4 years ago , specialize in Malware/Rootkit removal , custom firewall design & implementation , Anti-Virus software design & various network infrastructure installation (i.e: Cisco). Recently I've been performing security tests on various Android/Apple devices to predict possible flaws in wireless techniques (hobby) , for example a friend and I have discovered flaws in older firmware of iphone 3gs/4 , which allow remote connectivity through gateway redirection meaning through wireless bluetooth one can pair to these devices and basicly open a webpage which is hosted on an internal server which will give you full access to a person's data , all that is required is some Linux savy , bluetooth dongle and laptop.
