Just wondering, as I've seen a lot of mized opinions about it. Do you see Mika playing the wing or centre when he makes the big squad? I don't think he'll make it right away this year but might earn a spot a bit later in the year. I think, given that we now have Turris, he'll probably start off on Turris' wing. Opinions?
I was excited post-draft about this guy, but the last year has really soured me on him. If he can go down to Binghamton and prove that he can play in NA then I could see him eventually playing the wing in Ottawa. Having Spezza and Turris eliminates any other chance at a top six spot other than on the wing and for a sixth overall pick I hope Ottawa got a top six player.

I wouldn't mind having Spezz-Turris-Zibby depth down the middle when we're done rebuilding.
That said I could easily see Zibby go wing when he first cracks the NHL to fill in our top-6.
Agreed.
It'd be awesome to have him, Spezza, and Turris as our centers, but I think Z Smith will be an awesome 3rd liner in the next couple years, and can see him there as well.
We used to have hossa-alfredsson-havlat on the right side...why cant we have spezza-turria-zibanejad down the middle? Let them alp get lots of pp time by putting 1 on wing for pp.
I voted centre, but I see him playing wing more often than not. He has the size and power to play centre but with Spezza and Turris in front of him its pretty difficult to imagine he'd play much as a top 6 centre.
Ideally I'd like him at centre if he could put everything together. He has the size and tools to play there.
I think Smith could move to the wing as he did last year every once in a while. I don't know if I would move him over just yet though because he's proven he can fill the 3c role well.
I say give Zbad 10-20 games in the AHL and play him at wing and center, and evaluate him and Zacks progress from there. I think he will end up as a center eventually though
Yeah, I certainly don't think this is necessarily true in the slightest.
I second this. He has the size and power to be a prototypical centre. He may be better suited to breaking into the NHL now as a winger, but in the long run he most definitely should play centre.

Really?? I keep hearing this, and I just don't see it. He played on a crappy team in
Sweden, not really any fault of his. He had a awesome world juniors, scoring the golden goal. He had a taste of the big leagues at the start of the season, and he showed that he really wanted to be here.
For a change it seems that a lot of fans are under-rating him.
If he has a good camp, he will be playing wing in the big show.
I don't see a problem with him playing both. Sort of like what Jeff Carter has done for most of his career, have him pay wing so he gets a lot of ice time to utilize his offense but if Turris or Spezza are hurt or struggling mix it up and have him line up at centre.

To me he looked most efficent along the boards. Looks like he could be a good hitter in enclosed areas and decent passing ability. Would love to see him along the wing
He could be a really good two-way centre with great skating, some physicality, and nice skill as well. I prefer Mika at centre, just a more valuable position.
