Top 10 from Huddle (HockeyBuzz)

I am not sure if this link has been posted, but I thought it would be of interest. Brian Huddle from Hockeybuzz wrote a Sens top 10 prospect list.

http://www.hockeybuzz.com/blog.php?p...blogger_id=153

My Comments:

Really surprised to see Ceci at 2nd. CC was a mid first round pick in a ok draft year, so either Huddle really likes CC, or he is less impressed with guys like Lehner, Stone, Silvferberg and Noesen.

He has Prince at number 4! I had assummed that by looking at his stats that Prince should have been rated higher but given his draft position (61st??) there was something that scouts did not like about him. Huddle is the first scout to have given Shane Prince two thumbs up.

He has Maidens at number 9 right behind Peumple, which leaves me asking the question is he really high on Maidens, a 3rd rounder, or really down on Peumple.

In retrospect it appears that Huddle puts a premium on upside, and less so on risk, which may explain why Prince and CC are so high and Maidens is at least 3 spots above Boroweicki (who is likely 12th, as Wiercioch was 11th)

Shane Prince ahead of Jakob Silfverberg and Mark Stone.

I'm going to stick with our rankings.

I can live with Prince ahead of
Puempel, but not ahead of Silf and Stoner.

You never know. Prince could be a steal if he puts on some weight. Isn't Oshie only 5'11 as well? And Mike Richards is 5'11 too.

There must be something about Prince that we dont know about though. The guy tears up the O and then doesnt get picked till the 2nd round and gets cut from the US WJC team. We definitely dont see something that other scouts do. Hopefully w.e. it is works in our favour and we get a solid player.

If you watch him with 55 games a year you sure as hell know a ton about him.

He's a complete stud. Questioned all along in his pre-draft years because he played with Toffoli and Martindale, he's proven that he in fact is the offensive catalyst. I'd rather Prince than Toffoli and Martindale without blinking an eye.

I just think as of right now it's premature to think of him better than Silf or Stone

The fact that the article doesn't even mentions Silfverberg's shot is quite annyoing.

I thought that the problem was that there was a lot of politics about whether or not the US born player was playing in the US 'system' or not. He was used as an "example" by the US Team to try and scare kids to sticking in the US and not playing in the CHL. Apparently, there was never really a spot open for him on the team and they just wasted his time. I remember reading that the Sens AND 67s were none too pleased with how he was treated.

The selection process blew up right in the American's face. A player like Prince should have made the team. Technically a 92, in his last year of eligibility for the tournament and a fairly high point producer in the best junior league in the world.

But then again the same could have been said for Toffoli this past tournament.

I actually really like the rankings. Pretty similar to my top 10.

I'm not as high on Sberg as everyone else here is. I think he'll be a real solid player but I don't think he'll be a star.

The comparisons are done to reflect style of a player that is well known, not to say that the prospect will become that good of a player. Of course this is just an opinion, but you never see a player compared to an relative unknown. (opinions here, not fact :p)

If he becomes as good as Anderson, we should be thrilled.

Regardless of the order, that's a solid Top-10.

He didn't make the WJC team due to politics and nothing more. He isn't apart of the US junior system and that is the major reason why.

anything that has Lehner and Silf and Zibanejad not in the top 4 is not something I'm gonna see as right.

Said it before and will say it again, having watched Shane Prince quite a bit over the last few years, i believe he will be the steal of the last years draft, everytime i saw him play live he was easily the best player on the ice!
