My day with the Cup PHOTOS ADDED 7/28

Well, it took some finagling and smooth-talking of my boss (who was not pleased with the shift swap I arranged but still agreed to it) but I now have this Saturday off and will be making the 6-hour drive to Ithaca, NY to see Stanley (and Dustin Brown). Cannot wait. Pictures to follow of course.

I'm thinking about making that trip as well, but still holding out for Quick to do something in CT on Friday.

Today was the big day. Stanley made his way to the Captain's home in Ithaca, NY

Started the 6-hour drive just after 12:30am and arrived at Ithaca HS at 6:45 (only got lost once ) for the event starting at 9:00.

While we were waiting a guy came around looking to see who had come the furthest and I guess of the people that were there at the time I won because he and a second guy proceded to interview me with what they said was Dustin's phone for his purposes. Hope he tweets it later

Despite the rain and the long drive there and back making for a 19-hour trip it was a blast. Below is a link to my PhotoBucket page.

He also took the cup grocery shopping at the Ithaca Wegmans:

Great pictures! Can't wait to get mine tomorrow.

In case anyone is wondering, Justin Williams and I think John Stevens will be at Caesar's Casino in Atlantic City between 2:30-4:30. If you live in the South Jersey area, you should come see it

I get my picture with the cup September 16th in Manchester, NH! I can't believe how lucky I've been being a fan from Connecticut I was able to be at Staples when we won it! And now I'll get a picture with the cup!

im hoping I can get a view and a pic on the same day as well. By the sounds of it it will only be a 30 minute window for non STH of the Monarchs that day.
great pics btw. looks like you dodged some insane storms that day.

According to one of my friends from school, the Cup will be in Grand Ledge, MI on Friday as part of "Matt Greene Day".

Must be so cool for these guys to bring it back to their hometowns.

Yeah. I ended up getting the 7 game ticket package, so that will get me inside for the photo opp. with the cup. The whole thing only cost $108! and for that I get a guaranteed picture with the cup and 7 tickets to 7 Monarchs games (plus a few other things) Sounds like a deal to me!

Thanks for the heads up Herby, was actually able to get the day off and make the drive over to Grand Ledge. Got some pretty good pics, but it was so hectic they were just rushing everyone through. I did manage to get a pic with the cup and one of Greene, and got him to sign my jersey....awesome day overall!

No problem.

I wanted to go so bad, but I couldn't get out of prior commitments here in Chicago. Happy to see you were able to enjoy it.

Is that a football jersey in the background? Wonder what position Greene played on the gridiron.

Yeah they gave him a football jersey, didn't say if he played although I assume he did. They were having a pep rally for the football team and there was supposed to be a parade but it was pouring out all day so they had it in the gym. I shook Matt's hand and spoke to him briefly and he was extremely nice, like I said just an awesome day
